I just bought a 99 Tahoe 5.7 vortex. The previous owner claimed he was driving around the farm and ran good. He went inside came back out and it was dead.
I tried to fix it bought new battery, spark plugs, ignition coil, distributor cap and rotor. Checked fuel pressure (58 psi). Checked wiring to starter all looking good with solid connections.
Im stuck any advice/ideas?

Dead means?? Does it turn over? Compression? Spark?

It’s cranking but not turning over and I believe it has compression but I don’t have a compression tester is there a way to test without it? And I’m in the process of replacing everything for the spark last thing would be the starter.

"Cranking" is "turning over." So you have a "crank - no start" condition.

the ignition control module is a classic to fail on these, causing a inexplicable no start or just "died" while driving
