2025 Diesel orders opened

Don't know what to say. Ordered and accepted on 1/17/25 at 10:51:47 AM EST. Still has not been allocated.

After speaking to my dealer this morning. Diesels orders have begun allocations. Unfortunately my dealer was only allocated AT4 ultimate diesels this week. Fingers crossed for next week

Just spoke to my dealer also. Z71 Suburban LZ0 placed early January has a build date of 3/17/2025!

DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process

The weekly process consists of 4 stages.

1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations or specific models.)

2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.) (Sunday the system is unavailable)

3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than what they were allocated.)

4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the accepted orders are sent to production control.

So just to clarify, must dealers have a relevant allocation before placing an order? I'm hearing some say that they can see an order as "submitted" but not "accepted" but am hearing from my dealer "we can't place the order until we get our next 2025 suburban allocation and then we'll put your order in because you're next in line." Are they being forthcoming with me?

1100 and Dealer Allocation
This causes a lot of issues. When you place an order with a dealer, the status is 1100 in the GM ordering system called WorkBench. PRELIMINARY ORDER ACCEPTED. UNTIL GMAD ACCEPTS the order, it just sits there at 1100. You don't have an order with GM at this point. You only have a dealer requesting an allocation for a slot in the production schedule. Dealers are awarded allocation based on past performance, as well as other factors. If you are sitting at 1100 you are not in line yet for production. Your dealer MUST get GM to accept the order. When GM accepts the order, all the parts are available and will be allocated to your car build.

First, many salesman do not understand the allocation process.

Second, dealers are told at the beginning of every model year the number of units they are expected to order. This is their Guide Number, so called because it is intended to help a dealer "floor plan."

Third, dealers are told every other Thursday how many Allocations (a portion of their Guide Number) they can use over the following two weeks AND this number of orders will be divided over two weeks.

Dealers only receive allocation if earned ...some weeks it is not earned and not available...

There is NOTHING stopping the dealer from picking and choosing who's order they place and some unethical dealers may choose a customer who will pay more to get a vehicle over someone who is haggling on price.

This awkward system meets laws and demands of court decisions.

ORDER EVENT CODES:
• 1100 Preliminary Order Accepted. (no constraints or entry errors; needs dealer allocation to move forward)
• 2000 Order Accepted by GMAD (Dealer used allocation to place order)
• 2500 Order preferenced (“Picked Up”), Sent to Production Control (PC)
• 3000 Order Accepted by Production Control (PC)
• 3100 Order Available to Sequence (ok from PC that all parts are available for this build)
• 3300 Order Selected and scheduled by Assembly Plant (Target Production Week Available)
• 3400 Order broadcasted (sent to all suppliers and depts. in the plant, locked in sequence to the end of the line, build process underway)
• 3800 Vehicle Produced, it’s come off the production line. VIN now available.
• 4000 Vehicle Available to Ship
• 4104 Bailment Invoice Created (Shipping doc’s)
• 4B00 Bayed (“B”, not 8) Parked waiting on transportation
• 4D00 Bayed for Quality Control (unknown time period)
• 4106 Bailment Released (Rc’vd by Transport Co.)
• 4150 Vehicle Invoiced to Dealer
• 4200 Vehicle Shipped (In Transit)
• 4300 Intermediate Delivery (off-site rail head, up-fitter, etc )
• 4V03 Estimated Delivery Date
• 4800 Rail Ramp Unload, at the final distribution center. Delivered by truck to dealer
• 5000 Vehicle Delivered to Dealer
• 6000 Vehicle Delivered to Customer (or dealer reported sale to GM)
• 9000 Order Cancelled

To clarify - My order is not in any system at this point from what i can tell and he said they can't give me an order number right now, when i asked they sales manager looked in the computer but then had to go get his paper file to find the order because it wasn't in the computer so it's not in an 1100 status, its current status is living in a manila file folder with my deposit paper clipped to it. Is that a common practice?

Unfortunately, this does not constrain the dealership from pre-selling more than the earned allocation, as GM does not manage this process in any way. In other words, a dealer (knowing they only have two Denali’s arriving within the next six months) can pre-sell 20 and simply tell the customer that the order has been put in. For the 18 customers who are at the bottom of the list, they are at the mercy of whatever story the dealer tells them regarding the production of the vehicle. Dealers are under no obligation to disclose how many of their earned allocations are spoken for when making pre-order sales. As such, many dealers don’t disclose this information to the customer because if they did, you would probably walk right out the door.

When I ordered my truck I sat down and watched my salesman (friend) enter the order into the ordering system and immediately it was assigned 1100 and we had any order number. He printed it out and game me a copy. The following week (Tuesday) it was picked up by GMAD because they had allocations for 4 GMC's (They are only a GMC dealer).

Allocations – The number of a particular vehicle model a dealer is assigned by GM.
Consensus – The planning and forecasting of vehicles between the dealer and GM. A quantity of vehicles that a dealer requests for a given production period from GM. Based on GM data and constraints they may or may not receive the amount requested.
Constraints – Items that are unavailable for ordering due to plant or supplier issues. This could be a certain option or an entire model of vehicle.
Event code – The status that indicates a certain point in the life cycle of a vechicle.
GM OrderWORKBENCH – The website used for ordering GM vehicles.
Final Allocation by Week Report – This report shows a dealer’s final allocation quantities for the specified production period.
Pass 1 – The preliminary pass of the vehicle order process which looks at only the quantity of preliminary orders that equals the lower of a dealer’s allocation quantity and desired quantity.
Preliminary order – A vehicle order that has been submitted to GM through the OrderWORKBENCH system. It would have successfully gone through Pass One. These orders have an Event Code of 1100 (Preliminary Order Accepted)
Priority number – Indicates the dealer’s preference for the placement of a preliminary order. The lower the number the higher the priority. A sold order defaults to a priority of 1, stock orders default to a priority of 99. Priority 0 means that the dealer does not want GM to place the order. The dealer can change these numbers as needed.
