    16" Wheels rubbing rear calipers

Never too old to learn something new... I really thought these wheels would fit, since they came as factory option on Escalades (albeit earlier models). Today I compared them to my K2500 (16") wheels and saw that they tapered into a narrower diameter the closer to the mounting plate you got...

    16" Wheels rubbing rear calipers

Thanks for the part #'s and links. Appreciated ! The brackets for the calipers were what was rubbing on mine. I took some pictures and measurements to compare and hopefully help identify what I have, The wheels I'm trying to use are from a 2000 Escalade. They are chrome plated aluminum or...

    16" Wheels rubbing rear calipers

Thanks for your input. I have the same spare tire code: ZGC. (16" Spare) But what is under the rig is a 17" rim and tire. But the point is not lost on me that if it came with a 16" spare, then it should clear the factory brake calipers... ? And I chased down the brake code: JH2 Brake...

    16" Wheels rubbing rear calipers

I have some 16" OEM steel wheels I was thinking about putting on the Tahoe. They rub the rear calipers. My Tahoe has the Z71 option with 17" wheels. Did Tahoe come with a rear disc brake and 16" wheel option ? If so, could those calipers be used on my Z71 Tahoe? Just seeing if I have any...

Checking Possible Rear Main Oil Leak at Bellhousing

"I 2nd the use of uv dye takes less than an hour to properly diagnose any leaks anywhere. You have to change the oil anyway im guessing." Yes, I'm going to change oil/filter, but first try to do a solid UV dye test. Then go from there... Probably be a couple days before I can start. The...

Checking Possible Rear Main Oil Leak at Bellhousing

Thanks for all the input and things to look for, leakage -wise. I like the idea about the dye and black-light. I've been a shade tree mechanic since the days of first generation muscle cars, so anything I can do to keep from getting out the BIG checkbook, I'm up for. But it is getting hard...

Checking Possible Rear Main Oil Leak at Bellhousing

I've been going over a lot of discussions about chasing oil leaks down. The question I have is: if the front of the flexplate is clean and dry, does this rule out a rear main seal leak? I have the typical oil drip at the rear of engine and front of bell housing area. When I cleaned everything...

    Chrome Wheels Blistering

SnowDrifter and MassHoe04, thanks for your input on how this might've happened. The damage so far, seems to be only on the inside part, behind the spokes. Like where you said an improper mounting must have happened. I'm going to get them dismounted tomorrow and see what the interior part of...

    Chrome Wheels Blistering

I came across these wheels and noticed they had some areas that look blistered or bubbled on the inside of the rim. Anyone run acrossed this before? The blister feels solid to touch. I don't know the manufacturer of the rim. I was told they are chrome plated steel.

2004 Tahoe Passenger presence system question

Thanks for the idea, and yes I did check the wiring when I had the seat out to replace the heating elements. But ya never know... my old eyes might of overlooked something. Also thinking next time I take the seat out I might test the wiring with a meter just to be sure. And thanks for the link...

2004 Tahoe Passenger presence system question

I thought it might be a silicone-like fluid. There seems to be a bit of oily film under the seat, which I'm wondering if it means the sensor pad might be leaking? I'm fairly certain the seats are original, but I can't find the replacement pressure sensor pad source online anywhere. I did see...

2004 Tahoe Passenger presence system question

Howdy, I have a 'service air bag' light/message come on and a B0092 code showing. It is a 2004 Tahoe Z71. (158k miles) I thought I had it fixed after replacing the sensor but the notice on the dash came back. I also cleared the code and it said successfully cleared. Before, when someone sat in...
