    Maybe I am Cheap!

True, however, tow rating is tow rating. What this basically tells you, in a nutshell, is that the improved 5.3 is a capable power plant for this platform if weight of components is the only factor the sways it one way or another.

    2015 Yukon SLT Towing

Nice write up on towing experiences. For the OP, don't skimp on the hitch for a Travel Trailer. I am pulling 35 footer (12000 lbs) with my D-Max powered 2005 3/4 ton Suburban and use the Hensley Arrow Hitch (Pro Pride is its equal or some say better). They make a light duty for lighter...

    Maybe I am Cheap!

Just a side note. According to the GMC specs. Yukon tow rating with trailer package- 8500 lbs. Denali with 8 speed and 6.2 - 8400 lbs. Just sayin.

    FINALLY! It's been built!

I have a Suburban with a 6.5 Duramax, tuned to around 500hp, with an Allison 6speed and 12.5 HD rearend, and your right, nothing is better. I will keep driving it because GM will never build anything remotely as capable as mine. Ball bustin or not, nothing beats a trail of black smoke while...

Do the white tail lights bother anyone else?

He must mean clear. The Yukon taillight looks way better than the Tahoe imo. When combined with black rear pillar (not body colored like the Tahoe) I think it looks more upscale.

9,865 miles 4Wd services just come up

Running in Auto is very much like the Old Jeep Grand Wagoneers of the 80's up to 91 (accept for the auto tcase engagement). In order to get better gas mileage we would change the front hubs to selectable warn hubs so we could switch to free wheeling front hubs so the front axle and drive shaft...

9,865 miles 4Wd services just come up

You and I agree about control and run in 2wd for that very reason. However, for those who want to run in Auto4wd, they should be able to do so without getting a system error. And once GM gets a fix for this, they should also be able to run in Auto4wd knowing that it has no adverse affects on...

9,865 miles 4Wd services just come up

That is a good question, and be honest I think it was originally that way. I believe Auto4wd was introduced way back when if you bought a 4wd you did not get traction control and this made up for it. Traction control was only available in the 2wd models and used the braking system to try to...

9,865 miles 4Wd services just come up

You need to understand the principle of Auto 4wd. On a nice pretty day, when the pavement is dry the vehicle is basically in 2wd while set to Auto4wd. There is no bad gas mileage, there is no excessive wear and tear on components because it is running in 2wd. Now, a rain storm pops up, and you...

    "Service 4WD" - Master Thread

It is a programming error. When you get yours in. Engage the Auto4wd, turn the truck off. Then restart it and try to put it back into 2wd. If you get the message they can reset it before you take delivery. That way you will know if you have the problem or not. Mileage does not matter with...

    Wife Hits the curb!!!! RANT

My wife curbed our chrome 22's. I bought the wheel insurance because I knew it was going to happen eventually. Took it to the dealer, new tire, repaired wheel. The policy has already paid for itself. And before we jump on the wife, compared to the 2005 she has been driving for the last 9...

    Denali vs LTZ

My dealer special ordered ours and sold it to us for dealer invoice, which equated to almost a $5000.00 savings off MSRP. 66k msrp, 61k sold price. Others have seemed to do better than that, but I was satisfied with that deal. This was at the beginning of March, we were the first to take...

    Denali vs LTZ

My GMC dealer in Tyler, Texas discounted ours nicely, where our Chevy house would not budge off sticker. I guess it is really up to the dealers in your area. Our loaded up SLT was 8k cheaper than an LTZ. The few upgrades the LTZ offered were not enough to sway us. Like I say, it depends on...

    Denali vs LTZ

I believe it is a more appropriate comparison between an LTZ and the GMC SLT. The Denali is a fairly big jump with the 6.2 liter and the now available 8 speed. You can option up an GMC SLT almost to the level of an LTZ (GMC would only lack the magnetic ride control and the flip up doors in the...

    "Service 4WD" - Master Thread

I picked mine up yesterday and was given the above mentioned memo from GM on the problem. It has been given a case number with GM, they are working on a fix that will be implemented as a recall. Good news is, the problem is being addressed. Bad news is, there is no time line on the fix...

    "Service 4WD" - Master Thread

Same thing with me the first time. Reprogramming does not fix it. If they are cycling the system without turning it off. Before you pick it up, have them cycle it from 2wd to Auto4wd and drive it (preferably in a way that will cause the auto4wd to engage, turn the vehicle off. Then turn it...

9,865 miles 4Wd services just come up

Mine is back after about 3 weeks. We engaged auto yesterday during a rain storm and it has stuck in 4wd. What seems to be happening is: while in Auto4wd, if the system senses the need to engage 4wd, it is not going back to 2wd, thus an error. And because it is in 4wd, but the switch is set to...

    "Service 4WD" - Master Thread

Mine is a Yukon XL, picked up at the end March. It was in the Auto 4wd setting at delivery. I promptly switched it 2wd. At approximately 4200 miles we engaged Auto 4wd while driving in spotty downpours. At the end of a 45 mile drive the system would not return to 2wd, "Service 4wd". This...

9,865 miles 4Wd services just come up

I think there is slight miscommunication here. I don't think anyone here wants to run in Auto 4wd all the time. But, we should be able to engage it when needed(whether it is redundant to traction control or not) without getting the service 4wd light. It is a system that was bought with the...

    165 miles and I got a service 4WD message

Its a software glitch, something is not communicating with something else, or maybe even in the order it is supposed to. They will figure it out, but in the mean time it will frustrate a lot a people including me if it happens again.
