Sorry for such the long delay in the build. With my 3 girls, summer heat, and work I haven’t had time to touch it much. I still do have it and the whipple finally came in. However I haven’t even opened the box up yet. I promise you guys by the end of the year she’ll be up and going strong.
I really wish he would have but nope lol. I got off the plan from Disney, hopped in my work truck, and headed out to midland. I did get word from Whipple that they are way behind on production and might have it shipped out by the 16th. At the end of the day it’s all good and will give me time to...
Got the front end put together today. The Viking coil kit from twisted metal fab was very well built and super easy to install. The wilwood kit went in pretty easy also. Lastly the djm lower control arms are a nice piece and straightened out the angles nicely.
When I’m home next time we are...
Made some pretty good progress the last few days when I can find the time to get out to the shop. Got my headers all wrapped up, Morimoto headlights/tail lights installed, radiator put back in, and finally got around to making my 6 an trans cooler lines. Tomorrow I plan on digging into the front...
Alright so Ted got back to me this morning about the fuel pressure sensor and wiring. He said, at least in my application, no rewiring is needed and the 3 pin sensor is fine.
I appreciate it. I’ll make a call to jannety racing tomorrow and talk to Ted and see what I can figure out. Spdc has a YouTube video out that’s a couple years old explain the sensor. I guess from 14-16 it was a 3 pin analog sensor and 17 and up was a 4 pin digital. Thankfully it won’t be super...
So l8t used a new engine and wiring harness. I reused my l86 harness. For 19-24 they changed the high side wiring. Before that it’s the same connector.
Alright I made it back home and knocked out quite a bit today. Got the trans back in and the torque converter bolted up and torqued. Drive shaft slide right in and is so much smaller around than the stock unit. This will be nice when I get it sitting lower so clearance. Also started getting the...
Even though I’m stuck at work I figured I should do a quick run down of the build over all.
Thompson Motorsports l8t 427 short block
Callie’s compstar rods/pistons/crank
Ati dampener
LME vvt delete
LME valley cover
LT4 hpfp
FIC 30% over LT4 injectors
Atomic drop in low side 475 pump...
Man I’m so sorry. I had to head back to work early and will be back home next week. That being said I did get the block slung in and started working on the wiring harness. As for the exhaust I have a set of 1 7/8 kooks long tubes I need to wrap and get put on also. I got ahold of Whipple the...
Finally back from work and had an hour or two free to get some stuff taken care of. I ended up pinning the crank just to be safe with the whipple. All pushrods have been put in a the preload set for the Johnson racing tie bar lifters. Tomorrow or the next day I’ll end up finishing up with the...
That’s kinda my thinking also working out of town and having the wife daily it. Trying to keep the down low drivability as tame as possible and not overly complicated.
I was heavily considering xdi however they are backordered like crazy and the tuner I use often isn’t a fan of their support. I was thinking of port injection but I think the 30% overs will be fine for what I have going on
It’s an 8l90. I went with a 3k triple disc setup from circle d. The rotation assembly is all cali compstar stuff. Heads are a set of katech cnc ported stock casting heads. With the 59cc chamber it’ll be right at 10.8:1 so it should have some good grunt down low.
Fic lt4 30 over on the high side walbro 525 on the low side. Gpi cam has a 32 over fuel lobe and then a lt4 high side pump. Unfortunately there is no E85 close to me at all and with this being a daily driver driving 45 minutes to fill up isnt in the picture. It’ll be tuned on 91 pump gas. I’m...
Quick update before I get the heads back on. Got the pushrods measured out all within 7.95 to 7.97 with the Johnson tie bar lifters. Still waiting on the c5r timing chain to come in from Katech. Ended up ditching vvt all together and went with the LME set up. For the money this piece is mint...
Quick update. I reached out to gulf coast driveline and ended up scoring a 4 inch t8 driveshaft that will hold well over 1000hp. For anyone wondering a 2wd shaft on a swb is 56 inches center to center without the yoke.
So I’m in the middle of swapping my tired l86 out with a l8t stroker with a gen 5 whipple on top with all the supporting mods. Trans was built by tkr to hold 1000hp with a circle d billet converter. The issue that I am running into is a good choice for a drive shaft. Seeing that it’s 65 inches...
