    Custom Tune Review!

You likely have wear in one or more of your compensator feed circuit components, which since it seems to be isolated to the 3-2 downshift, would be limited to that circuit...That said, there's still more than enough potential causes... The specific data points you'd want to monitor are TCC Slip...

Hi @jdwood1111 - what transmission are you looking to diagnose via the TECH2?

    Replacing Transmission

Check my 6L80 Info thread (link is in my signature line) for parts lists, procedures and resources including links to ATSG and ATRA manuals, my videos as well as TSBs and other relevant content. These transmissions are not that difficult to build provided you acquire the tooling you need. I...

    6L80 video for 1000+ hp

For negotiating grades, you want some underdrive. Mostly level grades and loads within the vehicle's limits, towing in 5th (an overdrive gear) is fine. Just my opinion and what I would do...

    6L80 video for 1000+ hp

Im not @Geotrash but the 4th gear ratio is 1.15 to 1...most late model clutch to clutch transmissions dont actually have a direct drive gear.

    Replacing Transmission

Reprogramming is necessary only if the operating system versions between two 6L80s (or any two otherwise same 6L variant units) are different. The part number on the TECHM denotes operating system version and i think there's 15-20 different versions for 6L80s. It the most critical check for the...

    6L80 video for 1000+ hp

Yep, towing/heavy duty usage is always tough on transmissions, regardless of how well or strong they are built. Glad it's working out well for you.

    6L80 video for 1000+ hp

The 6L90s behind Duramax engines have an extra friction and steel in clutch packs however the 80 can be upgrade with extra frictions in the ones that matter. Most CTS models had 6L45s or 6L80s; only the Vs got the 6L90s. I believe the same or similar TC was used in the ZL1 camaros... Odd you...

    2019 no crank nor start

Could be internal mode switch failure, especially if all your int accessories, radio and lights work. The IMS is in the transmission and communicates range position to the powertrain control module. Sometimes no codes will set/store if channel N (the IMS comm channel that sends the P/N position...

    Replacing Transmission

Check to make sure the TEHCM parts numbers are the same or swap your pre-existing TEHCM over to the replacement unit if not then run a fast adapt relearn before trying to drive it. See my 6L80 Info thread for more info - link is in my sig line.

    White smoke issue

Gotcha, 275k is pretty good for those engines (or any gas engine, for that matter)...If you determine the head gaskets to be the problem (or a cracked head), I'd yank the engine and replace with a reman if you don't have time to rebuild it...Check with machine shops in your area...You may be...

    White smoke issue

Lol, thought you were the OP but changed your user name for some reason. And idea of leaking connector hoses causing the white smoke out of the tail pipe was funny. Nobody tagged you in this thread from what I can see...

    White smoke issue

In addition to the dry/wet compression test, also do a block test that confirms/denies presence of hydrocarbons in your engine coolant. If confirmed, time to yank and go through the heads. If engine has more than 140-150k or so, yank and overhaul it, if you determine head gaskets are needed...

    Transmission replacement costs?

Just have it dealt with under warranty. No need to worry. You should have a 6L80 but you can just look in your glove box at the rpo code list. Look for "MYC" - that's the regular production option (RPO) code for a 6L80.

    Transmission replacement costs?

Sucks, sorry to hear...Where did the replacement transmission come from (i.e. which company or shop built or manufactured it)? Is it still under warranty? At less than a year, it should be (at least I would think). No reason to be terrified, it's just a mechanical device that can be replaced...

Just bought a 07 tahoe. Transmission help

If you're asking about swapping a 6L into a vehicle that originally took a 4-speed, it prob be easier to sell the 4-speed equipped vehicle and buy one that has a 6L...They have completely different comm architectures and sounds like a nightmare to adapt one to make work with the other.

Just bought a 07 tahoe. Transmission help

The fastest way to fix this issue is to replace the transmission with a 2007-2008 model year unit...Only those two years will work. Double check to make sure it's a TSS transmission (ie actually has the sensor installed as some 2007 units don't have them). 09+ and 06 and back are a no-go.

Replacing torque converter - with what?

Contact your cam manufacturer and they will recommend a stall speed range based on the cam grind, vehicle weight, intended usage pattern and final drive ratio. That is the best way to determine the appropriate stall. You want your converter to be "matched" to your cam and where it makes a...

    8L90 at wits end

When was the rebuild? How many miles on the trans since the rebuild? Are you still under warranty with the shop that rebuilt the transmission?

2007 Yukon. Lost 1st and reverse gears in transmission. Replacement options?

    RPM Fluctuation

He should have fully vac tested that valve body, all valve trains. Also what TCC valve did he replace? There's three of them in that trans though only the TCC regulator valve is accessible without pulling the trans and removing the pump so Im guessing its that one. The Sonnax valve seals that...

1234 clutch pack burnt up for a 2nd time.

Always weld the 3-5-R drum. They all leak, it's just not as bad post 2010. But that's the transmission equivalent to saying getting shot in the leg is not as bad as getting shot in the face so i dont seek medical attention when i get shot in the leg. Glad you found it - would have been much...

time to break up with denial…guess who. 6L80!!!

There was a dispute between Richard Crich and his son about matters relating to the Youtube channel itself and the son, who actually owned the channel, shut it down, apparently because he and Richard were unable to resolve their differences.

1234 clutch pack burnt up for a 2nd time.

Sucks, man - sorry to hear you're having issues. My questions: 1. Did you air check the 1-2-3-4 clutch (along with all the others) through the pump and when the case was fully assembled? - If so, what were the results 2. Did you install the Sonnax 1-2-3-4 billet piston? 3. What was/is...

    4L60e issues after rebuild

I did a wet pressure test and air check of a 700R4 drum today (this one had the tcc ball capsule in the snout removed) and there was absolutely no air coming out of the snout of the input shaft. I also checked a 4L60E drum that I threw together with what I had laying around in the shop and...
