    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

This can be normal as the transmission/TEHCM/PCM has a split second uncertainty as to exactly what the vehicle is doing between the time you let off and the time you reengage the throttle so it's making split second decisions on what gear you need to be in based on all that data streaming into...

    Transmission output shaft seal/bearing

Reply with a link here to one of these videos because I'd like to know what you're seeing/talking about. There is no bearing in the back of any 4L60E, 2WD or 4WD. You have a seal and a bushing, both of which @OR VietVet provided you the correct links to purchase. Either you have a different...

    Transmission output shaft seal/bearing

Yes, they're different - you are looking to replace the extension housing's bushing and seal, correct? If so, the first link is for purchasing a new OEM extension housing bushing. The 2nd link is for purchasing the OEM style shrouded extension housing seal. The third link contains a combo pack...

    Transmission output shaft seal/bearing

Refer to post #2 by @OR VietVet - he lays it all out for you. The first two links are for the OEM first design components while the third link is for the 2nd design which is sold at most places today.

    2019 Yukon/Transmission fluid temp problems

See if you can take an independent temp reading at/on the pan with an IR thermometer once it gets to op temp. If you're really running around 250+ all the time, you will be yanking it back out soon. The torque converter accounts for the majority of the heat built up inside an auto trans so its...

    Transmission fluid - 6L80 17 Tahoe PPV

I'm familiar with them...Rebuilt one of their 4L60Es for a customer who used to live near them in Fort Worth....I'll have to confer w/my notes as to what I found on tear down but don't recall anything damning in terms of builder procedural errors or bad judgement on parts selection...

Transmission Holding Lower Gear After Moderate to Hard Acceleration

I have nothing to add to post 8, sounds normal to me but I'm not familiar w/these newer 10-speed units. Here are the symptoms people want to watch out for and take action if observed: 1. Shuddering at any speed/gear/range position 2. Slipping 3. Delayed Engagements 4. Wrong gear starts 5...

Is this issue new or has it always behaved this way? If the latter, for how long?

    Please help

Transmission needs to come out for overhaul...Pump rotor/slide have broken apart and/or input shaft splines have stripped...If the Tahoe is a 4WD, you'll want to rule in or out the transfer case as a suspect first before yanking the trans. You can do a trans pressure test using a 300 psi gauge...

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

The figures in the post you quoted was for daily drivers, crusiers and mild performance applications. HD/Serious work, severe off-road, HP/SS, full race and other non stock applications will require more frequent fluid changes, common sense right? If your usage pattern fits the above, every...

    Transmission fluid - 6L80 17 Tahoe PPV

You're welcome, man...Good luck with your search for a trans shop...There's gotta be at least one good transmission rebuilder in the Austin area. If you do strike out though, you can always purchase a GM Reman - 3yr/100k warranty and it's plug and play; no programming or fast adapt relearn...

    Transmission fluid - 6L80 17 Tahoe PPV

Good question - how much do you want to do on your own? Given you have clutch material in the pan, there's no question it's coming out for overhaul...But to answer your question of what came first, the chicken or the egg (i.e. did the converter fail first or did the transmission play a role in...

    2019 Tahoe Transmission Won't Shift

Yea, hard no on those auto parts store units for me (taken quite a few apart across a variety of transmission types over the years and they leave a lot to be desired) but you can ask him if it comes with all of the below: Parts List for Overhaul PART GM Part # Notes Paper and rubber kit...

    2019 Tahoe Transmission Won't Shift

Yep, time for an overhaul...I'm assuming you have a 6L80 but if not, situation is the same...False-neutral conditions as described, when combined with shuddering is almost always torque converter...The debris you/your mechanic saw came from the converter. Unfortunately, when damage like this is...

05 Tahoe only shifts when it leaks fluid

Do a line pressure test when cold and again when warm. The best way to do this is to thread a transmission pressure gauge into the transmission's pressure port (dr side, just behind the bell housing). Then drive around with it, observing the readings. At idle, in drive - you should have 54-70ish...

05 Tahoe only shifts when it leaks fluid

I have never heard of a trans working only when the pan bolts are loose but stranger things have happened. Please explain what you mean when you say it "stops shifting". Does that mean it doesnt move in any range position (Reverse, Drive, D3, Manual 2 or Manual low)? Or does it move but wont...

09 Yukon 6L80 TC shudder every 20k miles

10 is the standard, 60 is a bit high but I think codes start setting at 80 or 100 RPM slip for two consecutive drive cycles...I take my own vehicles out periodically and watch the TCC slip speeds in lock up and they are usually around 10-15RPM at most.

    4L60E Information Thread (Includes 4L65E/4L70E)

Bumping this thread with a new video on 700R4 and 4L60E Forward Drum Repair...The most common pattern failure, by far, is the 3-4 clutch pack burning up...The primary reason for this in my view, is leaks developing at the base of the input shaft where it's pressed into the drum...Over time...

    Transmission fluid - 6L80 17 Tahoe PPV

    - Yes - watch TCC slip speed at high duty cycles - TBD - drop the pan, look at bottom. If black clutch material is observed, put the oan back on with a few bolts and yank it for overhaul - TBD - depends on outcome of pan inspection

09 Yukon 6L80 TC shudder every 20k miles

If the torque converter clutch is disengaging when you're in high gear cruise control, your engine speed is increasing - take my word for it...Whether it shows up on your tach is another matter...But any systems monitoring engine performance and activity for their own inputs/outputs, such as the...
