As Michael, Dave and others have said, the old girl probably just needs some new parts. New OE radiator, new water pump, check the baffling around the radiator to not let air get around the radiator. I replaced mine with new OE baffles but you can use "for sale" sign material or roofing tar...
Farley is obviously not a student of history. Walking through a car museum it ought to be obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together that Americans love their big automobiles and always have.
Big cars are more efficient, they transport more people to the same destination than a...
Hey Dave, I think we've chatted about this before, I'm in the midst of doing the same thing. I picked up a used front axle with 3.73 gears and have put 3.73s in a 14-bolt 9.5" axle. My weak constitution causes this project to be dragged out. Too hot outside now, so I'll probably have to wait...
2021 was a crazy time with Covid still in full swing, many vehicles were completed missing options or were partially equipped with options with notices to come back later and get them completed.
@WalleyeMikeIII I didn't know you could do that with the newer trucks. I was referring to the...
PCV valve???
Does the 10 acres require you to get around it in 4WD? KO2s would help even a RWD truck get around on mild rough terrain.
A 6.2 with 3.73 gears is the ultimate configuration but not necessary unless you are racing, tractor pulling, towing heavy, etc.
I've got one with 3.73s...
Then run it and learn its limitations and work with that. I reckon you'll be fine but consider that since you are towing near maximums, things will wear out sooner and definitely change the fluids at about 1/2 the interval of the severe service schedule when towing regularly.
I have Gen IV 6.2...
An HD CC with 6.5 bed has a wheel base of at least 152 inches depending on the generation.
Bill on here tows all over the US with a 2500 Suburban and has probably forgotten more about towing and 2500s than I'll ever know. @intheburbs
These are much safer rigs, they have great visibility sitting up so high to see problems way ahead and not plow into them blindly like the little zoomies do all the time. Safety has a price and it's in lower fuel economy.
Last time I checked over at the IIHS, there have been ZERO fatalities...
Yeah, that's going to max out your some of your numbers, especially if you keep it a while and both the truck and trailer accumulate stuff. However, the 6.2 can pull that and much more with ease, you are taxing the chassis and suspension over time with that load. Consider a ProPride hitch, you...
Hey Larry, what gear did you run that grade in? Since the cooling system had recently been serviced, it is possible that there is/was a bubble in the system and it was not a full capacity. You'll have to check that.
If yours were mine I would change the transmission fluid after that run. If...
The chassis are essentially the same between the 2500 and 3500 trucks, it's the springs that provide the additional capacity. They even share the same axles.
The 2007-2013 2500s retained the original chassis when GM updated the HD chassis in 2011. So does that mean your K2 retained the...
Age not mileage in your case I would change the tensioner and idler pulley. Your vibration is probably coming from your busted driver's side engine mount.
No telling without proper diagnostic tools. Could be a bad switch or leak or the compressor or all of the above.
If you are determined to get after this yourself, you need a bi-directional scan tool to pull up the internal codes for the AC system.
You'll also need a proper manifold to check...
I remember Eric at Duraburb saying that those were not made to tow but to carry a lot of weight (armor). Give him a call and check out his youtube channel.
Now you can flame those dishonest men on social media and have the proof to back up your claims so that others might not get taken by these bums.
Love that you went after this and that it was a relatively simple and inexpensive repair. Your wife and children will look upon you with even more...
The different generations are not compatible computer wise. Your cluster cannot talk to the 6.2 and visa versa without a mountain of research and work.
Stick with a 6.0 of the same Gen III platform and consider supercharging or stroking it for more torque/power.
My fuel sender is like yours, I can drive all day when it says empty. Typical fills are 25-26 gallons, most ever was just under 30.
The 2500s have a deeper frame, they run a 26 gallon tank up front and an 11 and change gallon tank above the spare tire. It's too big to put in our 2500s without...
These Gen IV 6.2s are known for dropping a valve guide when they overheat. Usually cylinders 7 and 8.
I reckon the only way to check that is by camera.
You can examine the wiring harnesses underneath the dash and seat for obvious signs of chafing but I suspect a bad connection at a module or something. Do you have access to a bi-directional scan tool to pull the BCM codes? Do you have an Iphone with the CarScanner app?
When you load the trailer, try and put the heavier items over the axles and not up front which will weigh down the truck. That's what I do anyway when I rent those 12 footers.
