Clogged Trans Filter, is it toast?

Not sure about your area but in my area on car-part.com there's a few junkyards that have rebuilt transmissions for around $3k that come with a 3 year/ 100k mile warranty. I have no idea how good/reliable they are but I was curious so I looked it up.

10L80 - filled transmission at wrong temp???

Just curious did you check around at junkyards for a used one? It's a couple hundred miles away from me but a quick check on car-part.com for your 19 there was one with like 11k miles on it for a little over $3k. Some even come with warranties.

New Yukon XL question on engine

A family member has a 21 yukon they bought new with the 5.3 that needed cam and lifters done around 30k. Which ever one you go with I'd just leave some money aside for a rainy day. Not saying it's going to happen but better to be safe then sorry. Or try finding a dealership that offers lifetime...

    2015 Suburban

Do the gauges act sporadic when there's a lot of moisture in the air? Not apples to apples but on my pontiac for awhile if there was any dew on the windows of it in the morning when I'd leave for work the gauges would go haywire and flash every light on the dash the whole drive to work. Morning...

ATF Lab Results, Dexron VI, 43k miles on fluid

Great info! Thanks for sharing @donjetman We just got our suburban a few months ago but I plan on doing exactly the same as my other truck which is a drain and refill every year and a new filter every 3-5 years depending on mileage.

Lame Question of The Week/Month/Year: OE Rear License Plate Screws & Alternates

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VJ91TDX?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_JVVCC2Y8A1PN7729DXSW&language=en-US I just put these on our 15. I only used the screws and caps. They screwed right into the oem retainers or whatever they're called.

    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

I'm new to gms but I know with the Ram hemi trucks which seem to have some problems with cam and lifters a lot of guys either run redline oil (loaded with moly) or just add lubegard biotech (also has a lot of moly but is an additive) to the oil they're using. Those two options have quieted down...

New User - but looking to buy new PPV "toy"

Dang that's a lot of hours! I'm not sure on the wifes suburban but on my truck with 128k miles I only have 3600 hours. What kind of condition are they in? Me being the cheapbutt I am I would go for the cheaper one which surprisingly has less miles and hours. More money to stick into maintenance...

"transmission hot idle engine" message alert setting

Along with the updated thermostat or just delete it I would replace your trans fluid asap. That fluid got cooked.

    Oil life question

White goo, yellowish goo, any type of goo. You'll know once you see it. Although my pontiac work beater with 260k miles always has a little yellowish goo under the cap during the colder months. My average drive too work is over an hour so it definitely is warmed up and it doesn't leak or lose...

    NEED HELP!!!!

Do you have a voltmeter to see what the voltage is of the new battery? Just because it's new doesn't mean it wasn't sitting on the shelf for awhile and lost some juice.

Do I need to plug in Tahoe/engine heater???

If the garage is attached and insulated I wouldn't worry about plugging it in unless you leave the garage door open all the time. Our attached garage rarely gets below freezing unless we leave the door open for a little bit. My truck albeit a gas 3/4 ton ram that's parked in the pole shed with...

    Lots of sway

Maybe I missed it but what camper do you have a forest river 250fks? If so the specs on it are 775lb tongue weight. So you're easily over 900lbs once you figure in battery, propane tanks etc. Without the wd bars on you will be wearing out rear suspension parts a lot faster.

    Lots of sway

I would try a different place, small town rv places I've found are a lot better then the bigger ones. Just like car dealerships. There's good ones and there's bad ones. Usually more bad ones lol. At 5700lb dry weight with 12% tongue weight thats roughly 700lbs added on just the rear axle. So...

    Lots of sway

Unless they make a stand alone sway control system he will need a weight distribution system. Not sure on the exact specs of these trucks (should say in your owners manual) but usually anything over 500lbs tongue weight you want a weight distribution system otherwise your steering is going to be...

    Lots of sway

Let us know how it goes. Nice camper! It could just be the angle of the picture but it looks like the camper is nose high. If the front is higher then the rear on level ground that will also cause excess sway. You want the front of the camper slightly lower then the rear.

2017 Suburban Transmission - Early Death!

Couldn't agree with you more. I change the atf every year on my truck (16 ram 2500) and this 15 suburban we just got will get the same treatment. I also deleted the thermostat since in my opinion 195 is a little high for a transmission even with changing the fluid every year.

2017 Suburban Transmission - Early Death!

Was the fluid and or filters ever replaced? What temperature did your trans run at?

10L80 - filled transmission at wrong temp???

They definitely don't make anything easy anymore lol. To me it would just make a lot more sense to have to check it at normal operating temp, not having to power torque or drive spiritly to reach the temp it must be checked at.

10L80 - filled transmission at wrong temp???

What does your trans temp normally run at? I'm still trying to wrap my head around why they would want you to check it at such a higher temperature then what it normally runs at. Since I'm assuming it's normal temp is below 212.

    Lots of sway

If you don't have sway bars I'd definitely recommend getting some. Depending on how much that place wanted just for the sway bars it might be cheaper just to get a whole new weight distribution system (weight distribution with sway bars). A good place to look online is etrailer.com they usually...

    Lots of sway

What type of a weight distribution system are you using? What is the gross weight of the camper? Dry weight doesn't mean much since usually that doesn't include items like propane tanks, battery, awning, little stuff that all adds up. Same with "listed" tongue weight. Getting actual weights of...

2016 Yukon/L680 Transmission upgrades for HD TOW 2016 Yukon XL

It looks like some class c's can tow 8k lbs and more but which ones I'm not sure. I don't have much knowledge about them. Everyone's situation is different but I wouldn't think a long trip pulling a camper with 3 people up front would be very comfortable. Hopefully someone else chimes in or...
