Purchased a 2007 Yukon XL, now to make it reliable!

Yes, it is driveable without them. The lug nuts hold it all together. The screws are there so that when the truck is built at the factory, as the frame has components hung on it, the screws hold the rotor flat to allow for quicker install of other brake components and sometimes the frame is...

OR VietVet Is Still Throwing $$$ at 2005 Z71

When I walk in to my local AZ, they like me there. If it is available at their web site, I always have the part number looked up. I will also help a customer that is there asking a question that the counter people don't know about. But I always cut up and joke with them and throw in a few curse...

2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali A/C Intermittently stops blowing

Welcome to the forum from Oregon. Two things: You can "ATTEMPT" a "worth a try" procedure of doing a reset of sorts. Disconnect the battery cables, wait about 30 seconds and then touch the cable ends together and then reattach at battery. For some strange reason, I have heard of this working. I...

    My latest Adventure, update 7/11/21

Yea, that holder/clip on the left front side of engine, holds the lines before they go across the front of engine to attach at radiator, is also easier to access when front diff is dropped. The videos I saw, about dropping diff, show either leaving bolts in, 2 of them, and dropping that much...

    My latest Adventure, update 7/11/21

Very sorry to hear about your father. Hell of a send off! I am about to do the oil cooler lines on a 2018 Suburban and I have found some research that says to loosen the front diff and let drop down for clearance to snake the block out and in.

    On vacation need help

If you are hearing it and seeing it, that leak is bad enough that you should get to a shop asap and have it checked and remove all doubt. If brakes are working correctly now, that does not mean they may still have a problem but that axle bearing could be the noise and causing the fluid leakage...

Best place to buy pads and rotors.

I ran shops long enough to know, dealers are for "if you absolutely HAVE TO" situations. The shops I ran are for the customers that do not have the tools or the know how and is a shop that they have learned to trust. The rest of us can either do the work ourselves or are just too lazy/old to do...

Best place to buy pads and rotors.

Almost all tread wear indicators are at 2/32's and at 3/32's thickness on bonded pad thickness, there is plenty before worries but is getting thinner. Is that at the front or rear or both?

OR VietVet Is Still Throwing $$$ at 2005 Z71

My 20,000th post: As you can see by the date, it has been a long time since I posted anything here about my Z71. I went thru it and did quite a bit of work and it has never ever let me down and still runs and handles fantastic. I was looking to buy a 2004 K2500HD Silverado but that fell thru...

Power Steering Fluid mixing with brake fluid in brake reservoir.

The obvious place they are together at is the hydro-boost assembly. I have a 2005 Z71, with a hydro-boost system. I never saw leaks or had p/s or brake problems but I knew that eventually the hydro-boost would leak, so I did the entire system, including hoses and the steering gear box, along...

Best place to buy pads and rotors.

%'s of brakes at different shops p*i*s*s*e*s me off. Who is referencing what? Audi says 60% and GM says you don't! Don't what! Don't have any left! Don't have 60% left but only have 40%! They should measure the thickness remaining between the rotor surface and the pad backing and then reference...

It can be the correct color code BUT, as you said, "showing their age" can make the match difficult.

    P0430 code

To ignore the problem does not fix anything. That cat will eventually clog up as it breaks down and that will create a whole other list of problems, especially with the power of the engine, caused by excessive back pressure from the clogged catalytic converter. IMO, spend the money, replace both...

    mystery hose

That does not look like a factory zip tie mount. If the other hose is a vent, I would guess a vent for something, like @Sparksalot suggested. Have you not followed it to the other end?

    Fuel injection maintainance

I find if you use good quality fuel and the correct octane, you will do yourself a big favor. No name fuel means less additives. I use mid grade Chevron at all times and think of 1/4 tank as empty. I also use Chevron Techron additive, periodically. The fuel system cleaning that is pushed at...

I don't see an axle seal leaking on this side. Those park brake shoes are like new. You can replace but do your due diligence and check on the entire system adjustment procedure.
