Any update on this? I would not be putting in a catch can, or any other modifications to the engine until all repairs under warranty have been completed, just in case GM wants to deny coverages.
Adding 1 quart of oil when no oil is showing? You might want to keep checking. When no oil is...
Did you pull your fuse block out to do the swap?
If you did, when you put the top hat back on the fuse block, something might have pushed out the back of the harness, or bent a pin.
Edit: Or did you take you main engine harness out so you could use the main engine harness from the donor engine?
There is def a cool factor to them with the only removeable T-Top on the market...
But after you get past that, the cool factor wears off pretty darn quick!
So my Envoy is my spare vehicle, and I have space in my Side Driveway to store it for when I need it...
However, it backs up to a open field.. I dont want mice. So I rather park it on the Concrete on the street in front of my house, than in the grass in the back...
Your pictures above are the...
And thats the harder side of the engine to do. I would say you have some blow by going on by those numbers. Its within spec cylinder to cylinder (barely), but those are some pretty low numbers.
From memory, so my numbers may be off..
170-185 Is optimal
With the miles it has, 150 would be OK. Lower than that, and you might have issues
Edit: A quick google search shows that as low as 135 might also be acceptable, but power is starting to suffer.
Not really fond of that color.. I think its called Limestone.
All these manufactures going back to these pastel colors... Just makes me want to gag.
It has the 22" Dark Sport Rims. Has the rather pricey factory cross bars too.
Yellow badges means its the 835hp/915tq model (just like mine)...
If you had said 2, 4, 6, and 8... I would have said the wiring harness, or plug, for that bank...
But you had to go and say 7 instead of 4!
I personally would start with a compression test, after verifying spark, plugs, and coils.
At least its an 03, so no AFM/DOD to worry about.
8th digit?
Miles?
Who knows, you might get lucky and its a coil, or a shorted out plug wire on the manifold.
I will admit, we are missing details of the donor truck. Lets not forget the Envoy came with a 4.2L I6 standard, and 5.3L V8 as a option. And the Saab came with the same engines that the Envoy came with, Standard 4.2L I6, and the optional 5.3L V8. The only difference is that some Saabs also came...
My 2005 Saab 9-7x had the TSS, and its the same exact truck as a 2005 GMC Envoy...
Are we going to risk him buying a transmission on a assumption that it might not have a TSS? I am not taking that risk. You can if you want.
Go with what you know. I know his MIGHT have a TSS, it also might not...
Pretty sure most of that is in-correct.
Bell Housing. Yes
Torque Converter. Yes and no. It will work, but has the wrong stall speed.
Input Shaft. Not Correct
2000-2008 4L60 will work. Not Correct. They started adding sensors in 2005 that the PCM is looking for. If they arent there, it can cause...
The transmission will work from the Envoy... But there are a couple catches..
If its from a 4.2 Inline -6-, you will have to swap the bell housing, and the torque converter. Its a easy bolt off and bolt on thing.
If its from a 5.3 V8, you will likely have to swap the torque converter.
05 is...
At first I really didnt like the Esky on the new platform. The front end bothers me. Like the headlights were kinda a after thought.
But I have to admit, its growing on me. I do think it looks better than the Tahoe and Yukon.
Yeap.. Paid 9k for my 06 Esky with 82k in 2021, sold it 6 months later for 15k. I think I only got that much because of the Covid pricing. I was not expecting to get it. First person showed up with cash in their hand.. and the full amount!
12k is HUGELY over priced..
No idea where you are in the world, but I would imagine you could find a better lower mileage engine from ImportAPart or J&J, for cheaper than that, and get it installed for less than that.
So where are you in the world?
If your truck was able to take it, there is...
4 Speakers? That would be very odd for all of them to fail at the same time.
If you have a Bose system, I would check to make sure the amp is getting power, and signal.
Worst case, I would take out a speaker, and try to power it thru a home stereo. If it works, you know its not the speakers.
