    a tuner with hptuners or efilive can disable it and remove the error messages,,,but it is not free. There is a cost for the licensing for the software and I would assume for the owner of the tuning rig.

    Rough Idle 5.3 fuel flex

    when you increase the air flow with aftermarket parts you are going to have to recalibrate the pcm. More air gets you maf readings for out of range. Check with a tuner for help in changing the fow calibrations, worked for me. just my 2 cents BlackBear can help or buy a tuning rig and work on it.

    A good, GOOD tune really helps. I drive a 2003 yukon. 5.3 and average just over 24 mph highway and 20 or so city-depending on traffic. Find someone to adjust your fuel trims, ve table, timing table and a few other tables. IT IS WORTH IT Driving it for over 3 years with no problems.

    Many modules for replacement need to be programmed or reprogrammed to get them to work with the new vehicle they are being installed in. Different vehicle, different controls and trim styles or packages. Not uncommon to get a "dumb" module that would fit several models with different controls.

    Check out the Chopperdoc youtube videos for a start, lots and lots of good get started info. Been tuning my 2003 yukon 5.3 4x4 for 4 or 5 years and love HPTuners. The hptuners web site has info and a link to their forum wher you can ask questions and get help from advanced tuners and newbies.

    03 Tahoe Z71 runs great, bad gas mileage.

    No mods Stock 5.3l , 4x4. I tuned it in the 1400 to 2600 rpm ranges. Worked out to handle from about 35mph to 75ish mph.     You really can get by with the basic unit and you do have pay for the required credits to license your vehicle to the rig. Lots of help there. Been tuning cars and trucks for over 45 years and found HP Tuners to be the easiest.
