What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Had a minor argument with a concrete bollard guarding a fire hydrant at the CVS the other evening. Ended up being the excuse I needed to switch the front bumper cover to bedliner paint so future scratches and minor damage will be easy to cover up. Much as I'd like, I can't see dropping $2000+...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yes - now. Sorry for the delay. Finally remembered to get a couple of shots of the installed Dashskin yesterday on my way to work.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I should have taken some "before" shots but I forgot in my haste. I'll take some "after" shots in the morning before I head out to work so I can post them to you tomorrow. Basically, though, I had three cracks running from the airbag, speaker, and the instrument cowl to the front of the main...

2021 Tahoe z71 rear squat with travel trailer

Hi Suzanne, First, lemme clear a misconception and that is I have a Suburban. I just cross-post here a good bit because the 'Burb forum isn't as busy as this Tahoe forum. Sorry for the confusion. That said, I don't have any wiggling issues with the longer wheelbase - one of the 'Burb's...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Did the Dashskin thing yesterday. Was helped by four 20 pound sandbags from the theatre department which will be returned forthwith now that the RTV has set up. In addition to the ability to spread their considerable weight out a bit, they squished up against the windshield better than something...

2021 Tahoe z71 rear squat with travel trailer

Hi Swamp, Had the same problem towing my 1706FB Winnebago with Z71 springs and Bilstein 5100 shocks after deleting the air ride suspension on my LTZ. Had to install Air-Lift 1000 air bags to get things back to level even with a Husky WDH. Running 40 lbs in the bags when the trailer is hooked...

    Towing Camper Trailer

Coming to this party late but with real world experience. My rig is the truck detailed in my sig - a 2011 'Burb 1500 with 3.42 gears, a 2"-ish lift and 32" tires, which are larger than stock and reduce the gear ratio a little further. I'm pulling a 1706FB Winnebago (17' box, 20' total length...

    Z71 Suburban Camper

Thanks for that. Mine are in good shape and though I prefer the look of yours, I may leave well enough alone for now. At least until I decide about spraying matching color bedliner down below them and on the bumpers. And yes, piano hinges are a good thing...

    Z71 Suburban Camper

I really like the hinged shelf solution, rattle as it may, as we'll have to keep the 2nd row seats in the truck with the grandkids going with us. Nice job! Even so, with one of those damn Nascar roll-cage baby seats it's going to be a pain until the little guy gets considerably larger. Question...

    To level or not?

Here's my 2011 Suburban with Moog 1250 lb rear springs (Z71 spec?) and Bilstein 5100s all around. Since the new rear springs raised the back between 1.5 and 2 inches, I set the front springs on the second lowest perch on the shocks (5100 front shocks have three or four perches for this type of...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Got the Air-Lift 1000s installed on the 'Burb after we got back from the Michigan trip in June. Tried them out on a quick camping excursion into nawth gawga a few days later; vast improvement in ride control at 40 lbs pressure with 500 lbs on the hitch (according to the Sherline scale) and lotsa...

HELP!!! Bilstein 5100s on a AWD Denali with Z55

You can't just order the normal air bags for the truck, Dustin - you'll need to talk with Air-Lift and specify the 4" diameter, 11" long bags, IIRC. Double check me on that if you go that route but I'm pretty sure the ID of the Moog springs is 4.25" and the length is a bit over 11" at rest. The...

    Look these awful awful people!

In the case of a C8, I'm not sure it's desperation. Even at a "market adjusted" price, a C8 is a significantly less expensive mid-engine high performance car than it's European competition (a Ferrari 488 Pista goes for $331K if you can find one...) and a lot of folks with that kind of money may...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Put fiberglass strips over all the dashboard cracks (only 5, I guess I'm lucky...) in preparation for doing the Dashskin thing. Then I may just disable the airbag instead of letting the dealer break the dash and cover while doing the airbag recall.

HELP!!! Bilstein 5100s on a AWD Denali with Z55

Sorry to be late to this answer; just got back from a 3 week trip around Michigan's Upper Peninsula (awesome, btw) with a fair amount of stuff in the back of the truck plus additional weight on the trailer hitch (17' Winnebago w/dual axles) and I'll say I wasn't too happy with the stance when...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Added Air-Lift 1000 bags to the 'Burb last Thursday after getting back from our three-week Michigan UP trip; went out immediately to a little-known but beautiful campground with everything fully loaded as if we were headed out for another month. Big improvement at 40 lbs pressure. 60 lb propane...

Let's Ask This Question Another Way...

Actually, a Silverado/Ram/Super Duty might be the direction I head if a 3/4 ton is in the future. I don't really have any need for the third row seating, so a crew cab 4x4 would fill the ticket. A Decked or similar cargo management system and a camper cover would be an excellent alternative...

Let's Ask This Question Another Way...

Thanks for that detailed analysis, Bill. I did hear you the first time, but the old corporate photographer who shoots every angle imaginable of a scene so the art director has choices looks at decisions the same way - from every angle imaginable. And I'm not sure where I got a total trailer...

Let's Ask This Question Another Way...

I very much appreciate that offer, bigdog, but home is Chattanooga Tennessee, and the boss has plans for the lower MI part of this trip already. And, as I noted to Bill, thanks for your experience. I'm starting to see a trend here...

Let's Ask This Question Another Way...

No preferred answers, and no naysaying perceived, Bill. This is what I'm looking for - honest, experienced opinions on how much further I should take the current vehicle (if any further) before I look for a 2500. From the comments so far, it looks as if we get a bigger trailer, the 2500 will...

Let's Ask This Question Another Way...

Pardon, in advance, the mini-novel. And thanks everyone for the replies to my question regarding 1500 vs. 2500 frames and suspensions in this thread: https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/1500-vs-2500-frames.125382/ Been pondering those comments and what I'm looking to accomplish with this...

First big road trip (towing and camping), things to know?

This will be a good test for your towing setup. I'm finding the need for some air bags in the rear suspension (I deleted the GM air-ride stuff which fails every 75k miles to the tune of $1200 in parts plus labor in favor of 1250 lb Moog rear coils and Bilstein 5100 shocks). I also have a Husky...

Long term owners of BlackBear Autocal tunes.

Regarding tuning to the octane rating you want to use, I'll be interested to see your results. As an additional (non-empirical) data point, my Miata ran well with either 91 or 87 octane, though it was tuned for (and Mazda recommended) 91. I found it to be a pay-me-now-or-pay-me-later situation...

    Many Thanks!!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the info on this forum - one tidbit just saved my engine's life. Took the 'Burb in for a 7500 mile oil change so my mechanic could also, because of the info gleaned from a couple of threads on this forum, change out the oil pressure sensor filter. He's a sharp...

Start Towing with 114K miles on my Yukon?

I hear you and I'm not arguing, but given that I first used a 2000 ZR-2 with the 262 ci V-6 to pull that trailer, I really don't feel much now. Talk about underpowered, undercooled, and underbraked... :D
