    4.11’s and 33’s.

Thanks for the info on the tires; I may just trim the plastic a bit and call it done. My lift is more like 1 - 1.5" from my bigger rear springs and setting the front springs on the first perch up from bottom on my Bilsteins. As a data point for you - with the Tru-Cool I never saw more than 135...

Start Towing with 114K miles on my Yukon?

Hi Randy. I'm coming to this party a little late but I'm another happy camper with a 2011 4WD Suburban 1500 LTZ which I bought last year with 231,000 on the odometer and lots of maintenance records. My 17' Winnebago weighs in between 4000 and 4200 depending on the length of trip and my wife's...

    4.11’s and 33’s.

Nice rig! You staying at Cloudland Canyon or Fort Mountain? That site could be at either park and both are very nice. I added the 40k Truecool and it made a world of difference but haven't towed yet this year. The factory transmission cooler looked to be useless on my Suburban it was so small...

Looking for Advice on Replacement Shock/Spring Options

I went with the 1250 lb Moog rear springs (pretty sure they are the Z71 spec coils noted above) and Bilstein 5100s all around. Rear was lifted 1.5 - 2", so I set the front spring perch up one notch on the front shock body. Ride is wife-approved and much improved over the blown out air ride...

    1500 vs 2500 frames

Just a question about the difference between the actual frame design/materials/construction between a 1500 and a 2500 Suburban... Curious mostly as I think my 2011 "gentle offroad" upgrade is coming along well and I'm only towing 4500 lbs give or take with our 17' Winnebago TT but should I ever...

    B Pillar Leaks Redux

Hmmm... thanks. I read about the A pillar as well in those other threads but got the distinct impression there were four drains - one for each corner of the sunroof and the rear two drained through the B pillars. Guess I read it wrong. But the leak has gone away at least for now after I...

    B Pillar Leaks Redux

So as not to resurrect some years-old thread (of which I've read them all and learned a lot), I'll just ask this one question: exactly where at the bottom of the body would I find the drain/weep hole for the sunroof's rear drain? And is it located where I'll have to remove the running boards to...

HELP!!! Bilstein 5100s on a AWD Denali with Z55

I just did the rear springs for now; fronts seem fine and I'm not adding an aftermarket bumper or other weight-adding accessory up front just yet. I'll get the matching front springs if/when I do go with a winch and bumper but that's down the road a bit. I think you'll like the Moog/Bilstein...

    GMT900, Anyone overlanding/offroading these?

I was gonna edit that post to add a picture so you could see the ride height difference. Looks like it's easier to just insert it in a new post. So here you go. Hope this gives you some ideas.

    GMT900, Anyone overlanding/offroading these?

So. I'm one of the 'Burb guys, primarily because it's the first good one I found used last summer. We were looking for 4WD crew cabs, Tahoes, or Suburbans and this one showed up first and was in very good shape, though high mileage for a 2011. It's an LTZ with the factory HD towing package, so...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Zymol leather cleaner and conditioner. They are two separate products but it's the best I've found. Been using it since 2002.

Do Z springs lift non Z

I'm very happy with this solution. Not a fan of the air ride suspension that came on the truck - shocks or air bags and stuff going out every 75k doesn't appeal to me. The simpler, the better, IMO. But yes, the ride was a great improvement even if I was comparing it to a blown air ride...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

ARB makes a kit with a 20 ft hose and all the attachments (the T that comes off of the compressor in the photo above is part of it) for airing up everything from tires to basketballs for $50. I ordered it along with the compressor. 20 feet will get to the truck's tires; I'll carry an additional...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

As promised - not much to see of the transmission cooler; the newer body work hides stuff far better than my 1995 Tahoe's but here's a couple of shots to give you a feel for how wide this thing is. That's the hood release lever in the foreground just for reference. I'm seeing transmission temps...

Recommended Deep Cycle Battery - Optima OR

Been using Interstate for years now. Haven't switched to AGM yet; my mechanic, who wheels/camps on the weekends, said for what I'm doing, the AGM isn't worth the difference in price. But he's a fan of Interstate, whether AGM or not. I just dropped a standard battery into the truck this time. I...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Got done with the installation of a Tru-Cool 40k tranmission fluid cooler - it's a monster. Also plumbed in an ARB compressor in the front driver side battery tray since it was sitting empty. Air for tires no matter where I am now. I'll try to remember to make some pix tomorrow in the daylight.

    Z71 Suburban Camper

Great build! Following closely as I may need to build a similar platform in my 2011 once the grandson gets a bit larger and we don't have room for both him and my granddaughter to sleep in our trailer. Like where you're heading with this! And don't beat yourself up over the lack of Autoride...

    2009 Suburban 2500LT (GMT900) - Misc Upgrades

Which cargo glide? Curious as I was looking at the Front Runner's 6 Cub box with the sliding top, or their 4 Cub box with the freezer slide for my big cooler. I'll check the battery thread for inverter choice. Edit to add: I'll probably get ARB's single compressor unit - it looks to fit in the...

    2009 Suburban 2500LT (GMT900) - Misc Upgrades

Sweet 'Burb! A 2500 in good shape is a great find even if not perfect. I've got a 2011 1500 LTZ which has a suspension build sheet close to yours: • Bilstein 5100 HD shocks (the front ones have adjustable spring perches which helped eliminate the need for a lift kit) • Moog 1250 lb rear springs...

Do Z springs lift non Z

I was surprised as well. I was only expecting about an inch from talking with an engineer at Moog when I was confirming spring rates before ordering them. I ordered the stiffest they made - 1350 lbs - as I bought the truck to tow a travel trailer.

Do Z springs lift non Z

I can confirm the 1.5" - 2" rear lift with the Z71 springs. I replaced the blown out air ride suspension on my Suburban LTZ with Moog HDs, which I suspect are the equivalent of the Z71 springs. Bilstein 5100s all around allowed for the front ride height to be adjusted to match the increase in...

What does your MPG look like?

Hoping this week's tuneup will net some more mileage but so far, 14 around town is about all I've gotten; 10-11 pulling the trailer. Haven't gotten out on the road as yet so I'm planning something this weekend that will put 150 or so highway miles on it to get some kind of a baseline.

    2011 Suburban in Tennessee

Hi Swathdiver! It's got 3:42 gears and the two-speed transfer case. Other than the air ride suspension I got rid of and the skid plates I'm looking for, it's a Z71 for intents and purposes. Wish I could get some 3:73s but Nitro Gear starts at 4:10 and goes up from there in their gear packages...
