    Good quality aftermarket backup cameras?

Not an answer, just more input/confusion... :-) I've been pouring through the Amazon reviews. By the time you're done nothing sounds good. Some are better in the dark, some the light, some have a nice field of view, some are clearer, etc. One little blurb: I wired up all three cameras on my...

Anyone get the fan recall for their PPV or SSV?

Having a vehicle with a warranty reminds me of how much I hate going to a dealership. Never had a good outcome from any of my trips, including "fully covered" warranty work. (Drove out after one trip with my front end flopping all over the road after a warranty replacement. They told me they...

    Light strobe question

Look at the RPO codes in the glove box. 6J7 is the strobe setup. Along these lines, the last part below. Does anyone know how you separate the rear and the front flashers? (The fronts alone would be extra helpful in the left lane. :-) ) 6J7 EXTERIOR LAMP EMERGENCY FLASHING SYSTEM...

    Police or Like rims.

I just circled Lake Michigan as the first trip in my SSV. It was great, I will never drive another "civilian" vehicle again. Left lane clear for me on the whole trip, cars racing up behind me and hitting the brakes, getting to go first at all stop signs, etc. Only two cars passed me on the...

What to look for in a 2011 Tahoe LTZ

Good call on the blend doors. So easy to missing testing both heat and AC depending on the weather. And defrost/panel/floor. Wouldn't want to start off by replacing that top one on a new purchase. Maybe a code reader. The better programs let you look at cleared faults. And simple google search...

    2004 Denali 6.0L throwing Codes P0174, P0171, P0101, P0446

I got mine a few years ago and paid $50. I'm sure they have gotten cheaper but I was surprised at the prices I saw now. But looking at Torques website they have some recommendations. It appears there are some issues with the cheapest Elm327s...

    2004 Denali 6.0L throwing Codes P0174, P0171, P0101, P0446

To be honest I haven't played with my newer Tahoe, but I bought a cheap bluetooth scanner that you use with your phone and Torque or some similar app. On my last one it surprised me how much data was available. I originally bought it to try to work on towing mileage...

Has anyone relocated their rear view mirror?

I'm curious on the lower too, but whatever. As said earlier, between the pivot point on the mirror, and the one on the other end of the bar on the windshield, you should have plenty or range to adjust. Not to mention that at any height you can angle it so your eyes are looking back... I'm the...

Towing MPG (interested in all years, 2000 - 2017)

Interesting information, thanks for sharing it. No trailer, but my first trip with my 2014 6 speed, what a difference! 20 -21 mpg on back roads, 19 mpg at 85. Basically 30% better than my 2002 4 speed. I won't get the snow to test with the trailer for a bit yet, but this trip make me optimistic.

Towing MPG (interested in all years, 2000 - 2017)

10 - 12 is 50% more than I was getting. My smaller trailer and older sleds were only a bit over 2k pounds, that was 10 mpg. But these trailers are like pulling a sheet of plywood in the wind. I've never done it, but others report they get the same results with our without sleds, it is mostly...

Towing MPG (interested in all years, 2000 - 2017)

I am curious what people get for mpg when towing? I had a 2002 5.3 for pulling a snowmobile trailer. The thing is not all that heavy but has a lot of wind resistance. I could pull 80 mph plus without a problem, but the thing liked the fuel. And there was no happy medium on the tach/shifting...

    Key fob

I don't have the specific answer, and am not quit clear on the question..., but : Does your key have the chip in it? You can hit a Home Depot or anywhere else and they will check your key to see if it has a chip. Or just ask them how much for a new key, if they tell you $42 you have a chip...

    PPV/SSV recall

Chicago area. They turned down 5% and covered health care increases. Don't like the book rates offered for jobs. (One version is that they were able to beat the books for over 50% for years and made out well, now they just break even. )...

    PPV/SSV recall

Mechanics around here went out on strike shortly after I got my SSV. They have been out since August 1st, and the dealer won't even order the parts to be available for when the strike is over.

How much do you Tow? - 2015 Tahoe

You sure gave me an idea here :-) I was always curious, didn't know it was as cheap as 11 bucks. And just looked up CAT Scales, they have about 10 million locations...

    New key FOB needed ??

I bought a pair of fobs and blanks for $28 on Amazon. I didn't think much about getting the key blanks until I found out that Home Depot gets $40 per key. I went to a local locksmith and had them cut, it was a good deal. Look for the model of your key fob on the back, and then hit Amazon. It...

    Aftermarket tails: LED vs non-LED

It's not that other setups do not work at all. But in my case on the bike I already had red lenses, so when swapping to an LED and having the option to go red or white LEDs, it was a simply decision to choose the red LEDs.

    Aftermarket tails: LED vs non-LED

"Normal" white light is made up of different colors. (Think about how a prism separates the white light in to the other colors) A red lens on a "normal" white light source filters all but the red, so you are losing the brightness associated with the other colors. This is why any colored lens...

    Aftermarket tails: LED vs non-LED

Don't forget that LEDs work different than incandescent bulbs. The best brightness is achieved by having the same color bulbs as the lens when working with LEDs. http://betterautomotivelighting.com/2012/10/18/which-color-leds-should-i-use/

How much do you Tow? - 2015 Tahoe

I tow a small snowmobile trailer. Not a lot of weight, but a lot of wind resistance. It pulls fine but drops me from 15 mpg to 7 mpg on my 2002. Hoping the 2014 I picked up this year will do a little better. Edit: Oops sorry, missed the category, wrong years. ... although I am curious...

Going to replace blown nivomats... AC Delco or Bilsteins?

The 5100's are adjustable, you can use them for lift, but the option to not lift, use the stock position, is available.

Does it have the towing package? If so, you can work with the wire used to charge the trailer battery.

    2014 PPV jump seat

Welcome :-) I recently got an SSV. They threw the jump seat in on the deal, and offered to buy it back when I finished my console shopping. My jump seat is different than yours in that that it has a lid on it instead of being open. I'm kind of liking it and thinking of keeping it now. With...

    Re-gear and g80 swap price

What is the use that you are considering the 4.10? I use my Tahoe 90% towing in the snow. When it was time for replacements I had a few sore spots for the Tahoe. (the rusted brake line issue they beat, Castech heads, compressors slugging) and looked at a non-GM vehicle for the first time in my...
