I bought BB kit was ready to tune but it occurred to me if out of 9 similar 5.3 trucks I drove 7.5 exhibit perfect idle even at 490-500 RPM, tuning will just mask the problem when this truck runs correctly it runs well even at designed 500rpms when truck misfires it will misfire even at 600 RPM...
True only money, that is why Koreans got them this afternoon. Wish I could spring for a Japanese again but GM got most of my budget at this point Toyota is out of my reach.
I owe this forum my update... after 4 days in repairs my truck is back with brand new mounts all around and ... $1100 down the drain. No improvements. Same rough idle, but, of course, all within the GM spec.
I wanted to thank everyone on this forum for camaraderie and support. I ran to the end...
The truck is with the dealer, they are doing mounts TSB, I am paying for this TSB to be performed, dealer promised to do this TSB to a T and reseat both engine and transmission. My decision was to run to the end of the rainbow as I hate to take a loss on it. My fingers crossed...
I do not imply that it voids the warranty. My problem is that I had multiple codes (posted them earlier in the thread) and one morning USB ports stopped working. Prior to that I ran Blue Driver for 2 days trying to log my fuel system and cats. Once I unplugged the Blue Driver and drove it for 2...
I had to explain how I got to know that there are codes in the system. Bluedriver has shown me the codes to begin with while causing those codes. Another mechanic cleared the codes with the SnapOn and they appeared again. Some dealers are just really good and just there to help.
TSB they gave...
I bought and had to return the BB tune. Last time I visited the dealer with this complaint + DST codes I was having, dealer told me that my VIN is now flagged by GM because I am plugging these OBD aftermarket devices. Apparently BlueDriver causes flooding on the bus and all kinds of electrical...
I honestly do not know what to do @calif phil . Dealer quoted $988 for the mounts, but that is a lot of change to experiment with, what if mounts is not it, or dealer would not reseat the engine and transmission mounts properly...
Quick update for those who follows this thread. I am on the 3rd tank of regular 87 BJ's and before Sam's Club gas. Absolutely zero change to my shaking and rough idle, not worse, not better. Exactly the same. I can say with confidence that in my specific case fuel is not a factor. Gas mileage...
What I have learned that the only Pico that is approved is CH-51450-A. None of the dealers confirmed if they indeed used CH-51450-A. Another concern was that single-axis is measuring 10-12% less in E1.5 so only tri-axis should be used. I have no way of knowing if they used tri-axis. Given that...
Local mechanics both quoted the job cost to replace front engine mounts - $1100-1240 for the labor (11-12 hours) and $420-$510 in parts, they only warranty parts that they source. So this is a quite bit of change to get this TSB 17-NA-166 done paying out of pocket.
I have spent a lot of time...
I am curious if there are folks here who are familiar with Picoscope process for this TSB 17-NA-166. Truck shakes very noticeably when cold and I would like to find a way to measure for this TSB. From the reading I have done, Picoscope measurements are hugely sensitive to the mounting location...
it is colder today in NC sub-freezing and on the drive to work this morning in D it was shaking more than usual, what it is even more interesting shaking got worse/stronger in P now. P raises RPMs slightly but it seemed to make things worse, before P was better than D.
I put K&N drop-in filter...
Interesting find, this is a 2020 5.3 brand new truck for sale at the dealer in NC. Notice the RPMs, fully warmed up idling at ~500. So there is variability in the idle RPMs even in 2020 trucks...
Everyone who posted here saying their idle is glass smooth, they cannot detect the engine running. You can read through the thread. I can definitely feel the engine running because it shakes, throbs and flutters. Thus I posted a video. Curious if someone with the glass smooth idle can post their...
@HiHoeSilver
I am trying to plot, everything is far in negative territory, I must be running rich?
No I did not touch o2s ever and I do not have plots for them but will add them to the BlueDriver logger for tomorrow.
This is how truck shakes when is fully warm, stopped in D in idle. Running 93 Octane Exxon. Bottle test shows the pattern of shaking if you watch carefully. BTW, if I put Regular gas - shaking pattern is the same except amplitude is wider.
