Good point. If I get serious about this I'll probably get a set of factory manuals and make sure all the wiring harnesses line up. I did this before installing tow mirrors on my 2001. Really helpful to know exactly what goes where.
So FWIW, I'm looking to sell mine, and fear folks will say the same thing (that I only joined to sell mine). I found out about this forum from the guy I bought my 2001 from and have been lurking on it for about 2-3 years.
As we say on another forum I'm on: "de-lurking is de-lightful".
More features mean more to break, more to repair, more maintenance. I love the infotainment system in my truck but am not looking forward to the day the hard drive or a button quits. I can fix it myself but it will take a while.
Are there any dealer docs from GM that suggest one has a better...
Thanks for the links! I'm looking to do this same mod at some point. I really prefer the Denali grill style. Please keep us informed if you see any peeling or bubbling over time!
The second row seats in the GMT900 fold and tumble for stowage. But nothing seems to hold them in place when they're stowed. Indeed, the owner's manual warns that the seats can fall and should be placed in the seating position for driving. That's lame.
Underneath the first row seats, toward the...
My door pulls on my 2013 Yukon XL are snapped, like so many others.
Taking a look the Silverado door panels are a bit nicer. They have a second grab handle, two cupholders, and more storage. I'm thinking about putting them in my Yukon. But I'm worried about switch compatibility. Mine has power...
Funny, I bought from a shop that claimed the same things, and then I found my two tone seat covers were half real leather and half fake leather. I called them and they said "that color was discontinued by GM so we had to make a substitution". I was furious - and already out $500 for covers and...
Yeah. It's a nice idea, the hybrid. If the conditions were right - maybe a 2013 that was used as a backup truck for a corporate outfit, with like 50k miles and 1500h on the drivetrain, just off warranty - I'd consider it. Or maybe if you're really handy and have a second donor/parts vehicle and...
The reason I was asking was that I thought some of the 2500s would have auto ride up front. If so, I was wondering if that would still be the Z55 option code.
I guess all I can do at this point for the odors is keep checking with a borescope and my nose for the source of the odor and the leak. I've been trying to run this one down for a year and a half. I think it's a little bit of everything.
It's up for sale, but, there is a slim chance that I'll...
Hmm. Maybe that's why I'm having diff locking issues with the wheels cut in my 2001. Local mechanics suggested using the LSD additive. I guess i can flush them and test.
Mine definitely has the G80 RPO code. The vehicle isn't readily accessible at the moment, but, I'll check to see if there is some aftermarket front differential on it. Who knows, maybe i'm feeling the back lock up - but it sure feels like it's coming from the front.
I pulled the HVAC Odor Diagnostic from the factory service manual. I worked through it with my mechanic. The heater core is good, no leaks seen with a boroscope, so I'm wondering what else it could be.
I spent so much time driving early-2000 model year vans that I can usually get the trailer hitched, solo, on the second try no spotter just looking out the windows, and on the first try if I use trailer alignment poles. But I did really appreciate the camera on the GMT900. :D
For sure. I ended up getting an SLT and it's loaded. Zero regrets. Interesting to see exactly where GM spent money and cut corners in the GMT900, and how they loaded every feature available at the time in the GMT800. But I'm saving all that for a later post.
First the basics (fluids, shocks)...
Mountains? In Texas? :hahano:
I think you'll be fine towing your boat to the coast. Monitor oil and transmission temperatures. I can't remember if you'd have an additional transmission cooler but if you do and it's plugged due to prior lack of maintenance you'll see temperatures rise. If you're...
Time to start talking about the search process. In this post I'll briefly discuss why I chose a 2500 SUV, and specifically, a late model one. I'll briefly discuss the different options available, and what I was looking for.
When I undertake a major purchase such as a vehicle I divide it into...
