List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Gallery replacements? So there aren't any signs of leaking/drops on the ground, but I'm guessing there is residue near the parts they want to replace though?

List of Repairs - DIY or Mechanic?

Hey guys, I recently had a full inspection on my 07' Tahoe LT. It has about 165,000 miles on it. I'm wondering which of these repairs I can do myself and which are worth having the mechanic take care of. I would consider myself an intermediate level DIYer. I already did the Serp and AC belts...

    Zwanzon's 07' Hoe

Ok, I'll switch to 2-H since it's been on Auto since I got it. I plan on doing my first oil change this weekend (using this DIY) and I may tackle the rims. If I do, I'll post up pictures. Any recommendations for oil on an 07' with 160k?

    Zwanzon's 07' Hoe

@Tonyrodz - Just a cover/wrap I found on amazon. I put it directly over the stock one to keep it padded. The original stock one had cracking/wearing where the elbow sits. I think I may try the plasti-dip route to see how it looks. I saw someone did that on this thread...

    Zwanzon's 07' Hoe

Thanks guys. @Tonyrodz - It does :/ Their fix was to add the awful looking carpet dash piece. I was looking at this dash cover as a possible fix though. I guess it fits right on top of the stock dash. I also realized I'm pretty sure I do have AFM, as I see on the dash it going from "V8" to...

    Zwanzon's 07' Hoe

Thanks to the many of you on here that helped guide me in my 'scenario' thread, I found and bought this amazing, white 2007 Tahoe LT. It's a 4x4 with black leather, new headlights, moonroof and 162k on the odo which I got for $9k. This was supposed to be my beater, 3rd wheel, baby-hauling...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

So I'll be looking at the Tahoe I mentioned above this Friday. The current owner has been extremely helpful, giving me all the maintenance records and mileages. This thing has had everything done at the dealership (oil changes, etc). Both motor mounts were just replaced at 145k. Transmission...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

I've been looking at all the neighboring states and most of the Tahoe's that have slightly better pricing or mileage are mostly LS's/ex-Police cars (I'm also trying to get white). I'll continue to search though. I ran the VIN at compnine.com and here are the results. Is this just a master list...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Hey Nate, Northern California. Ya, I see deals in places like AZ and TX for a couple grand less from what I see in CA. I'm pretty sure I could get it for 10k though.

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Thanks Diver and Dub for the info. This is my top prospect right now: 2007 Tahoe 4x4 LT 5.3L - $11k - 162k Miles - Black Leather interior - New brakes in 2017 - New battery in 2016 - Oil changes all at dealership - 2 owners - Recently checked over at dealership, no concerns noted Anything...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Such an incredible community here with great advice from everyone. I'm making a master list of all these comments that will truly help in my search. A couple other questions if anyone knows: 1) Will 4x4 issues arise (like the ones mentioned) even if the 4x4 is not being used frequently? Does...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Hey Tech, Ya we have PPV's here as well, most with high mileage though, still going for 10k-ish. I just feel like they all have been beaten and abused. I don't know the cost to reupholster the entire interior and putting in a new center console, etc, but it seems like a lot of work and would...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Excellent advice guys, thanks. This makes me less worried about buying a 100k+ Tahoe and using any extra money for these issues that have been discussed. It also sounds like I'd be fine with either the 4 or 6-speed, so I will not rule out 08's. Doing a "background check" on the VIN of whatever...

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Thanks for the feedback Silver. I stumbled upon this thread: http://nastyz28.com/threads/2007-2008-tahoe-with-4l60e-or-get-the-2009-with-the-6l80e.232490/ They mention the 4-speed transmission on the 07-08's might actually be the better bet..?

Looking to buy a Tahoe. Which is the better scenario?

Hey everyone. I'm hoping to get some advice on which route I should take. My wife and I are having a baby in March so it's time to get a 2nd car for myself since my 350z is not "baby friendly". This will be used around town, camping trips, grocery getter, etc. I'm not too worried about gas...

    New guy with a question

Good to know, thank rob! Is the mpg substantially better or just smoother shifting? I'm not sure I can afford a '10 at this point (still in college). San Diego just had such crappy roads Im so tired of scraping and having my front bumper go to hell every other month.

Good to know! Well as my search continues for a good deal, I wont hesitate looking at the 07's as well. Thanks guys

    New guy with a question

Hey guys, I'm new here and I'm planning on buying a 07+ summit white Tahoe soon. I have always been a car guy so the SUV scene is pretty new to me. Right now, I own a 2003 350z that I've had for 7 years but will be selling it to get the tahoe. I really need a more practical car (NOT a 2 seater)...
