    Ongoing Mods to my Esky

I don't mind the wheels. The headlight brows aren't my style but if you like them, more power to ya man. I see you also have a 4th gen fbody. I recently dipped my wheels. Took a lot more time than expected but very happy with the results. Has anyone ever used real paint over the top of the...

    Project---------------Tahoe

A little bit of progress from this weekend before I tweaked my damn back getting up under the dash of this thing. It's super cramped under there. Still getting the clutch pedal assembly worked out but figured I'd clear out the space where it mounts to on the firewall. I'm fabbing up a custom...

    Project---------------Tahoe

Yeah Steve at Monster Clutch is great. I had a Monster Level 3 in my Camaro for a few years. It basically was just a drag car and when the original friction disk wore out, I asked him how much a replacement disk was, he just sent me a new one free of charge. The pressure plate still looked new...

    Tire Tread Widths

Nitto DR's have always been small compared to other brands of the same size. My old 315/35/17's I ran 12 years ago looked like a 275. But those are drag radails, not what I'd consider a normal street tire. Other than those, I've never come across such a significant size difference in a street...

    Tire Tread Widths

I did not verify the offset by measuring, but they are very close to being the same +/- 5mm. Both tires are 305/40/22. Mike

    Mileage Thread (00-06)

Original post hasn't been updated since Jan 2013, but oh well. Mines is real close to 245,000 miles +/-

    Tips on injector replacement?

A little bit of white lithium grease on the O-rings will go a long way toward making that job very easy. I usually install the injectors in the rail first, then use the leverage of the rail to manipulate the injectors into the intake.

    Project---------------Tahoe

Thanks man. The plasti-dipped wheels have really grown on me. Its amazing the difference it makes in the way changes the vehicle "persona". The shifter is actually quite effortless, I could shift it with a finger. I removed the centering springs from the two bottom shifters just because of...

NEW and OLD members Take a Read!

I'm on my phone a lot and sometimes the pages don't load all the way before I start scrolling down to get to where I want to be on the main page. Once I get there, I tap the section I want right when the page finishes loading and it takes me to the wrong section. This happens a lot. I'm not...

    Tire Tread Widths

I had an opportunity to try out my friends wheel/tire combo on the Tahoe a couple weeks ago. He has some 22" Silverado SS replicas w the same size tires as mine except his tires are Cooper Zeon XST, Mine are Toyo ST-II. After I got his set installed I imediately noticed rubbing everywhere...

^^^^^ This. Doesn't look bad on the trucks IMO but looks out of place on the Tahoe/Burban. Mike

    Purchasing Water Pump

What model year is your rig? 2000 had a mid year change from the old body to the new body style. Mines a 2000 nbs but when looking for parts I always say its a 2001 so I don't have to explain it to the idiot behind the counter. Mike

Travieso Official Build Thread 2006 Chevy Tahoe (LA GUERA)

Looks good and sounds great. Maybe I overlooked it in this thread, but is that a tablet hooked up to a datalogger? Mike

    Slowly losing coolant

You got it. Yeah the cheap gaskets are a waste of time. Mike

    Slowly losing coolant

Yes, the four corners of the pan gasket where the front/rear covers mate to the block. Only needed because of the differences in surface mating areas where the other gaskets stick out slightly. I usually trim those flat with a razor blade to minimize sealant use. Mike

    Slowly losing coolant

Hmm, the only thing I can think of is that you either got a faulty gasket, or the surfaces were not absolutely clean when they were reinstalled. I'd never recommend RTV on those gaskets for anything but an emergency fix. It's just not needed. The GM gaskets are great, the Felpro's rate a very...

    Slowly losing coolant

RTV on an LS water pump? New stock style rubber impregnated gaskets. I've reused the ones on my racecar dozens of times without a single leak. Mike

Putting the Tahoe on a diet

That is fairly impressive time for a stock Denali. My buddies 2004 4x4 RCSB Silverado ran that exact same time/mph but his is about 400 lbs lighter. Mike

    Slowly losing coolant

That's good that you don't have the castech heads. Could be a head gasket going bad. I've seen/heard of them leaking a little bit at a time, not enough to cause white smoke etc... How's the oil looking? As mentioned, could also be a heater core leaking inside the cab. You'd probably...

    Slowly losing coolant

Check the casting number on the cylinder head. If it is a 706, chances are that you have fallen victim to the Castech cylinder head problem. Google it and you will find more bad news. Mike
