Nice writeup. Looking forward to long term reviews to see how well the shock bearings hold up. I've considered this swap quite a bit over the last year or so.

I got mine from a salvage yard, 5 bux for both. But you should be able to get them through any GM dealer or if you know the part number try gmparts.com.

The word "better" is one hell of an exaggeration when comparing the two transmissions. Built T56's have lived behind 8 sec capable cars so I'm not sure why you chose that description. Every trans can break at some point. If you read his first post he didn't do the swap solely for strength but...
Anyone ever try using a Duramax or HD front sway bar? Those things a friggin HUGE. I think they are a bit wider than a standard 1/2 ton but it shouldn't require too much effort to make it work. Always wanted to try one, just curious if anyone's made it happen.

Yes I did have to extend the shock mounts even more than the stock DJM extenders. If I had more funds I would def go with adjustables. Try to find one where the adjustment controls more than just rebound if you can. I have heard good things about the Ridetech shocks but I have heard the...
If your rig is swaying back and forth its a shock issue, especially if its getting worse as time goes by. I would just replace the shocks and go from there. I have not had good experiences with Belltech shocks.

Awesome job man!! Funny I found ya on PT today in searching for parts for my own T56 swap lol.... I was going to mention, depending on your tire height you could definitely go with a deeper rear gear than a 4.10. I ran 4.10 gears in my camaro as a daily driver and also freeway commuting 120...
Fabbing up the custom brackets to mount the bags will be the hardest part. Check out this thread for pics of how he mounted the brackets in front.

You could always just get some keys and springs for now and upgrade as you go. You can combine the keys later on with whatever you decide (arms/spindles). The Belltech 5305 rear springs have dead coils and also come with a 1" spacer which means they are basically adjustable from a 4"-6.5" drop...
The part numbers should be listed in this thread.

Just keep in mind, the fronts shocks will be specific to the DJM lowering arms as they have a different lower mount than the stock arms.

Cut and pasted from the sticky above ^^^^. I love the ride quality I have right now with the components listed below. The only thing I would consider changing is adding adjustable shocks at all four corners to control the ride quality a little more. But then again, I'm probably a bit more picky...
I love mine, but unfortunately I can't say where they're from or how to get them. I bought them used off Craigslist..... These use the stock bulbs and the lens is slightly tinted.

If you go on that forum I mentioned and ask how to remove the torque management, that should make a difference in performance. From what I understand, the TM is basically just GM's way of reducing power under certain load conditions in the timing tables to help protect the weak 4L60e trans. A...
I use EFILive on my car but I haven't got tuning access for the Tahoe yet. Have you used the EFILive forum? I've gotten solid tuning answers from there before.

What all are you trying to do with it? Is it stock, modified, or just trying to get rid of torque...
You can either go to Photobucket (or any free picture hosting site) and create an account, then upload and link your pictures to that, or create an album through your account on here. Just click on your username up in the top right corner, then click on the "show all albums" on the right side...
Love your ride, stance looks great.
Personally not a fan of a murdered out look. Too much of one color is boring to look at IMO. Have you considered blacking out the outter part of the grill and then painting the inside a dark grey to give it a bit more depth and contrast?

I read that exact thread you linked last night also when I was researching the flip mod. Seems there is more than one way to skin a cat in this case and the term "flip" can mean more than one thing depending on who you're talking with. Just like when I was growing up the term "WIP" meant a "work...
