Maintenance to do after picking up your "new" truck

Along with everything thats been said already, I also vote for power steering flush, especially if its hydro boost. I did mine at 100k thinking I was being proactive and it was nasty burnt. I took the funky molded return line off the booster/resevior, ran a new scrap hose from the booster outlet...

Jack and tools with sub what years?

Also if I remember right, both the mounting ears for the square hole nuts/bolts were at the top of the box and the bottom of the box had like a lip or something. The stud that I didn't remove kinda holds pressure on the bottom of the box so it doesn't move. I'm not sure how the bottom was...

Jack and tools with sub what years?

I didn't seal the hole, it was only about 1/2 inch and carefully measured to be in the right spot when the box is mounted. Would have to remove the speaker from box, seal with something while mounted, and then replace the sub and i didn't see the need. The nuts that go in the square holes were...

Jack and tools with sub what years?

I put the same sub box in my 04. The jack will still fit, barely, using the same hold down. I drilled a hole in my box for the threaded rod to poke through in case I ever wanted to take the box back out, and the tools now sit under my second row. Hope this kinda helps.

Low coolant warning and reservoir questions.

The leak at your heater hose fitting could be part of the cause of your no heat issue. They have an o-ring inside which will dry up/crack, or if its been really cold out the hose itself could have started leaking. Especially if it is original and uses the crimp on style fitting. Depending on...

    Check Engine Oil

I just did an oil change, and noticed that when it is full with 6qts it is just a hair under the 5th dot, if that gives you some reference point. Id say the light is coming on when you are about 1-1/2 quarts low, maybe a little more.

    What trans fluid everyone using

Gm switched from dex-iii to dex-vi (synthetic) in 06 roughly. Older vehicles were all super-ceded to the newer "better" fluid. I used to use dex-iii on my 04 because it was the factory fill back then, and it is what MY owners manual specifies. Like someone else said, you can top off older...

GM 17801346 Cold Air Intake 01-06

Selling the gm performance cold air intake off my 04. Everything is there and in good shape. Filter has never been cleaned, so I will blow it out best I can. They are supposedly cleanable but it is not very dirty yet, only been on about 10k. Only thing it will not come with is the MAF sensor...

04 with 154448 on it. Current tank is getting 16.6 mpg after 288 miles. Have seen anything from 14's to 19's average depending on my driving. Interesting side notes on things I have never reset: Avg econ: 16.4 mpg (life of vehicle) Hours: 5478.9 (life of vehicle) Avg speed: 28 mph (life of...

    2004 yukon starter/ignition/wiring issues

By radio, i'm assuming you meant amplifier? 250A is huge! If the remote turn on wire for the amp is not wired correctly, and the amp never shuts off, it would drain the battery like that.

Where can I grab constant +12v under hood

Once you have the lid off, you can gently pop the surrounding cover off. one plastic clip towards the fender, and two tabs you have to pop it over towards the engine. Then the whole thing lifts off carefully. I actually think you can do it with the lid on, just easier to see to line it back up...

Where can I grab constant +12v under hood

I'd pull the cover for the fuse box and use the stud where the battery connects to the panel. Nice and hidden and a true constant 12v. With the stud #1 being trailer accessory, i'd worry it may only be hot with the key on, as to not kill your truck battery while you have a trailer connected parked.

    Console lid that isn't hard

The silverado ones hinge at the rear instead of the side. But yes, they were padded and more comfy. I haven't found anything to help.

    Console lid that isn't hard

Denalis and escalades had a softer leather lid, but the whole console has to be swapped, it's a different shape. Went through the same deal on my 04. Id suggest a travel pillow or something on top.
