A few questions about my new ride....

There's plenty of threads on here about what a lousy performer the GM nav is. I wouldn't waste 5 seconds on something that will get you lost with great regularity. Forget it and get a Garmin.

    Reliability 2010 vs. 2007?

Have 30k on my 2010. Zero issues except for replacing the lifters under warranty - due to the loud clicking noise they were making on startup.

    Winter shots

Just got back from a week long "Winter in Yellowstone" photo workshop. When we got back to our cars there was 4 or 5 inches of snow on them. During the previous year's workshop it snowed so much that the park closed the road and when they finally got back to their cars they had five feet of...

    Odd cruise control issue

Just a thought... When I first got my (now long gone) Vette my battery cable connections seemed tight but they apparently weren't tight/clean enough. I guess the slightest variation in current flow would cause the computer to start doing some strange things: dash lights would dim, radio...

Yukon Denali AWD vs Tahoe 4WD

Here's a video of a Denali going over a bridge in the snow. Note that everybody else is stopped. Looks pretty capable to me. (fortunately he turns the music off after just a few seconds) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3j4HAT5E3s

    Extend Warranty?

I bought an extended factory warranty because I'm no mechanic and there are just way too many toys/gizmos that can break on my 2010 Denali. No real problems so far but I'm still shaking my head that I had to take the car in for "Vibrating Dipstick".

    Some sort of knocking...

My 2010 Denali would clatter like a factory on start-up if it had been sitting for a few days. Dealer replaced all of the lifters under warranty. Read somewhere the problem is with the synthetic oil - old design lets it drain out. No problems since.

    pioneer xm or sirius

XM is great on cross country. GM Nav is really crapola. Numerous rants on here about it. Get one of the units with Garmin.

    Fuel gauge going crazy

Earlier Corvettes were very susceptible to this problem. Experts over on the corvetteforum always recommended you burn a few tankfuls of Chevron with Techron before you start changing stuff out. Often as not it would it free it up.

    Active fuel management mods?

Same here. 2010. Imperceptible. When I started watching it I was wondering if it was actually doing anything. As I've mentioned before, it has to be the right circumstances for mine to kick into 4 mode: less than 45 mph and flat or downhill. Doubt it really saves that much. 99% of my...

    Serge, while driving...

You aren't missing much. I played with my 2010 Denali quite a bit on one long trip. It usually only kicked into 4 mode when it was a constant speed, below 45 mph, and it was flat or downhill. Higher speed or any grade, no matter how slight, would pop it back into 8. There was no...

    2012 Tahoe Automatic Door Locks

My 2010 is OFF and it does not lock itself. You are not going to break the car by trying it.

OFF means NO LOCKING AT ALL. Delayed or otherwise.

Back up battery - emergency starting

On my vacations I sometimes stay in out-of-the-way places. I looked into getting the full hookup for a second battery from the dealer. Close to a grand for labor, wiring, etc. Already has the 2nd battery box/shelf/whatever it's called installed. And no, I have no mechanical skills. I read...

    Bad Cooling

I worked in Kuwait back in the early 90's. There's a reason so many big Chevys were roaming around there. The locals loved the GM A/Cs. Can't imagine they have gotten worse so I'm betting there is something wrong with yours. I've had my Denali out in the desert plenty of times and it...

should I get a TomTom Nav?

I've had Garmins for years. Never had a problem. Never got me lost....even for a little bit. Maybe your problem is more operator error.

    2012 radio replacement

There's been several threads/rants on here including one by me about what a lousy nav system the GM original is. Do a search. Doesn't hold a candle to a $300 Garmin. I would get a 3rd party. -------------- Found my rant: http://tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17055&highlight=garmin

    Radar detectors

There's a lot of LEOs on the corvette forum. A lot of them say the same thing ...if you are speeding, get pulled over, and you have a radar detector .....no mercy. You are getting a ticket.

Considering buying 2010 Yukon Denali AWD, thoughts?

2010 Denali, had about 18 months, 20k miles, zero problems. Great road car. Very comfortable. Love all the toys. Get about 17-18 on the road. Really appreciated the AWD last year when I was up in the snow/ice in Yosemite - especially the parking lots. Everybody was slipping and sliding on the...
