    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Same here. The first DIC trim I received was broken in the mail. I don't mean to offend anyone, however the quality of interior materials is much better on my 1993 300zx. I don't need suede trim in my Tahoe, however GM could have spent a few cents more per plastic piece and improved durability...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Recently I replaced tires, got a recall filled, worked on the spotlight, and finally fixed the cracked windshield. Tonight I installed my DIC and new trim. I'm happy with the DIC functionality, however I am disappointed with the quality of the DIC trim. The sections of my new plastic trim piece...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I just received my brand-spanking-new steering wheel from the dealership! Friendly Chevrolet came in clutch at $187 total. The wheel even has titanium accents to match the rest of the trim in my PPV. I can't even get a wheel recovered for this little money.

    Anyone ordering an 2018 PPV

Brett, did you weigh the stock PPV 17" wheels? If so, how much heavier are your new 22's? I don't know about the 2015+, however the 07-14 PPV wheels and tires are also 1.5" shorter than civilians. I think this increases the final drive 5%.

    2018 Yukon Oil Change Interval

This is the oil change regimen I follow for all of my vehicles: 1. Use Amsoil (or similar) break-in oil on a new or rebuilt engine, change to synth immediately after break-in 2. 2nd oil change at 500 miles 3. 3rd oil change at 1500 miles 4. 4th+ oil changes at 4000 mile intervals maximum -Even...

Tahoe ltz 2017 transmission temp !

I live in Dallas, TX and temperatures in the summer often hit 105 degrees. I recommend flushing more frequently and installing a larger transmission cooler. I ran the largest transmission and engine coolers I could buy on my Z. My concerns with modifying the temperature value are that it won't...

    New 2018 Tahoe available with 6.2 V8 and 10 speed !!

The better question in my mind is- who has $69k to drop on a Tahoe? That is almost Escalade territory. I'll just keep buying my 6 year old $7500 PPVs. :emotions33:

Anyone try to swap new style steering wheel?

I am going to swap out my PPV steering wheel for a new leather 07-14 wheel. The OEM price was only $187 for the full wheel with audio and cruise controls!

Ride very rough, need new struts? Which system do I have?

What are the part numbers on your struts? One of them is typically an OEM part #. If you need new adjustable struts, I would buy Sachs brand struts from Rockauto. They are $370 a piece.

Not so sure anymore- Need guidance

Agree 100%. After dropping my 300zx about half an inch too much, my cross-brace hung up on my bank's speed bump. Fortunately the speed bump was made of rubber and I powered out of it in reverse (RWD). What do you expect with 3.5" of clearance though?? iamdub, good luck on the lift! Let us know...

A way to tighten rear passenger doors?

Install some Dynamat or Noico on the door. A good quality sound damper will add more mass to the door and keep it from opening too quickly. To experience the other extreme, remove the interior trim piece and interior handles and see how quickly the doors fly open. My 300zx's doors weigh about...

Help needed, U code (time to ditch the hoe?)

There are traction control/ABS wires that run down both frame rails to the rear of the Tahoe. These unplug easily, especially if they get bumped when changing the rear shocks. When that happens, you get multiple warnings on the gauge cluster including an ABS and Traction Control warning...

Not so sure anymore- Need guidance

I'd (mild) drop 1/2 for the best performance in most scenarios. My PPV's handling with new struts is great. I also like that it still has decent ground clearance. A few questions if you choose to drop: -If you install 22" wheels, are you going forged? If you can only afford cast wheels, I...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I doubt a Borla cat back will help much when paired with a set of shorty headers. If you go full exhaust though, I would install long tube headers instead of shorties. If you haven't installed your shorties yet, I bet you can still return them. The last dyno I saw indicated the shorties give...

What did you do to your NNBS SSV/PPV today?

I tried to service my Unity spotlight. The housing is pretty loose and the lens was very cloudy. I replaced the lens but when I attempted to tighten the head post nut, I must have dislodged or damaged something. The light no longer turns on unless the handle is jiggled into certain positions. It...

Finally Opened It Up and Stuck My DIC In

The DIC's almost as exciting as VW's VAGcom.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Looking great! Why don't automakers produce glass lenses anymore? Plastic lenses always start to fog up by years 7-8.

A Sticky for New PPV/SSV Owners To Re-Civilianize Our Tahoes

Thanks for the info. I just ordered a new leather-wrapped civilian wheel from the dealer. I guess I'm becoming a frequent customer because the price dropped to $186. Some of these OEM prices are fantastic. I received the civilian shift lever. Do you recommend any other interior upgrades? Can I...

    Bought a used '11 w/ 140k, leave the trans or change fluid/filter?

I believe GM recommends a 45k mile AT service interval for "heavy" or extreme usage. I've heard that most of us fall in the "heavy" use category (lots of short trips in the city, stop and go, etc.). Jason- if you service the transmission now and it fails in 2-3 weeks at least it won't be going...

    Spectralens PPV Updates

Seconded! Your interior looks great. I paid $400 for a jump seat on Ebay because they are hard as hell to find. Fortunately a local guy helped me with an inexpensive rear bench and free door panels, making up for the expense. Does your roll sensor (thing in floor) still work? Was there any...

    Bought a used '11 w/ 140k, leave the trans or change fluid/filter?

If your transmission fluid is black, I wouldn't drive until all of the fluid has been exchanged. I would replace the filter, service the pan and magnet, and perform a full flush at a dealership or by using the home method. Make sure to use Dexron VI and hope that your transmission hasn't been...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Corrosion on my metal plug grounding lead covers (not sure about their correct name) made removal very difficult. I had to put a tremendous amount of force on the other wire leads to remove them. I could not get enough leverage on the 8th spark plug though. I debated pulling by the wire or using...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Some more pictures attached. See the bulging old upper radiator hose. I also wound up parking next to 2 different 2015+ white Tahoes today. Pretty funny that my 2011 is at least 2 inches shorter.

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Thanks. It continues. After finishing the fluid flushes and suspension work, I moved to the engine mechanicals: -Cleaned MAF with MAF cleaner -Cleaned throttle body with carb cleaner -Replaced the serpentine belt, tensioner and idler, cleaned the other pulleys with carb cleaner and a soft wire...
