    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

I made some progress today: 1. I filled up the coolant. There does not appear to be any trapped air. 2. After testing, my motor mounts appear to be good. :) 3. Discovered that my HP power steering hose and one of the AT cooler hoses is leaking. I have ordered a new HP power steering hose and...

    Broken Motor Mounts

Has anyone tried supporting their 5.3L motor by the oil pan with a transmission jack and a piece of plywood in order to change their mounts? I don't mind changing the OEM mounts out every ~50k as long as the motor can be supported by the oil pan. I don't have room to store a cherry picker. Thanks

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Today: 1. I filled the differential using a small hand pump. 25 minutes, done. 2. I had planned to begin changing the AT fluid. For some reason, I thought there would be a drain plug on the pan. When I realized there was no drain plug, I found that I did not have enough 1/4" tubing to siphon...

    2007 suburban vibration

    1. This might sound like a stretch but do you have a dented or cracked wheel? 2. Did you verify that your motor mounts aren't broken? Your motor really shouldn't move much.

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Work today: 1. I finished flushing the brakes. It took 2.5L!! of fresh brake fluid to totally flush out the system. The brake pedal is now rock solid. 2. I popped the cover off the differential, cleaned, and replaced. The cover was coated with gunk and the magnet had a good number of metal...

PPV Front and Rear Coil Spring Replacement

It sounds like the PPV is built to handle somewhat like a sports car. I drove mine over 200 miles and found the ride fairly comfortable, but then I drive a sports car with stiff coilovers and the largest sway bars I could find. Len, I would try to find the spring rate. The PPV springs appear...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Gene, I'm not surprised about the dog smell. It's really not that bad in our Tahoe. We're also going to remove all of the interior trim and degrease everything. There is dog drool/oil on every surface. I'm positive the smell will be gone once the interior is gutted, cleaned, and refitted. We...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

I swapped in some brake speed bleeders and ran a liter of Pentosin DOT IV through the RR caliper after some problems. A couple observations. 1. The front calipers use 10mm x 1.5mm bleeder screws. The rears actually use 10mm x 1.0mm bleeder screws! What? 2. Assume bleeder screws are seized. The...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Thank you for the info! Has your Tahoe been reliable so far? -I believe my engine hour meter reset at some point since it only reads 181 hours. -I'm more worried about burning out my wallet! I really enjoy car maintenance- nothing better than changing the transmission fluid. -Our OBD scan...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

See attached. Not much to see at the moment. Just imagine the smell of dog and you'll have the whole picture haha. I am very happy there is almost no wear in the front seats. I doubt this SUV has had a hard life. Note I have removed some of the trim pieces. I just got the Tahoe jacked up and...

    Restoring/Upgrading 2011 Tahoe PPV

Hello! We recently purchased a 2011 Tahoe PPV from the county (great people by the way!) with 71k miles. I am creating this thread to document our restoration. Our PPV was a K9 unit until it was decommissioned in June 2017 meaning that the middle door interior panels and bench seat are missing...

    Buying a 2011 ppv

Howdy and thanks! A large part of my family is from the Granite Falls area- NC is an incredible state. I live in DFW- great for business but not for trees haha. I will create a new thread in the PPV section to document our repair progress, however I am attaching a before picture. Our goal is...

    Buying a 2011 ppv

Nice! It sounds like you and your friend got good deals with some assurance on the condition of your vehicles. Mine was a great deal but also a big risk!!! I bought directly from the county (full immediate cash payment required). Every vehicle they sell is "as-is" with no guarantee the engines...

    Buying a 2011 ppv

Congrats on the purchase! I just bought a 2011 PPV with 71,000 miles for $7500- I just picked it up yesterday too! I'm fairly mechanically inclined (cut my teeth on a 300zx) and just looked through my Tahoe. A few pointers: 1. Check your driver side motor mount. If it hasn't been replaced yet...
