I'd seriously rethink sending a GM truck to a remote part of Africa vs. doing a drain and refill on the transmission. Have you thought of sourcing a Toyota truck or at the very least a Nissan or Mitsubishi?
That said if you have no idea about previous maintenance or driving habits I would take...
@JasonPAtkins There's a few people with used ex-Police Tahoes (like myself) that have just done drain and refills. There is a noticeable improvement in shifting and operation temperatures from that alone.
You should be fine with either the FEL-PRO or AC-DELCO (OEM) gaskets.
Since you're dropping the pan, also replace the O-ring on the oil pump pick up line.
Looks great bud plus you saved a ton of money. That trim piece is a little over $200 CDN.
Really wished they only offered the cutout piece as opposed to the entire damn part with the A/C vents.
@spectralen Is this product similar to the Techron product you mentioned?

@techbiker I actually purchased a MOTIVE speed bleeder for my VW Passat (when I still owned it) and I still managed to get air...
With the fresh oil and filter those oil pressure numbers are within spec. I would monitor the situation over the next few weeks going forward.
Replacing the O-ring on a 4x4 truck is more involved due to the front axles but everything else remains the same.
Amazing work as before @techbiker
I added half a bottle of the Lubegard ATF protectant to my truck this morning and was impressed at how smoothly the transmission was shifting on my way in to work this morning. I had my ATF replaced when I purchased the truck about 5 months ago and I've since...
@Andrew1068 What model year truck do you have and is it RWD or 4x4?
Running a heavier weight oil is a band-aid and the real problem is the O-ring. FWIW, my 2014 ex-police Tahoe (with higher mileage) was exhibiting lower than normal oil pressure so I replaced the O-ring myself.
The video below...
@techbiker The pre-cleaning pictures of your transmission pan are quite good, nothing to worry about with it despite the shavings and grime. The ATF colour would be considered 'normal' for the mileage & age.
Have you replaced that shift linkage bushing yet? Curious about that part as my truck...
I think the trim on our trucks is the brushed metal trim.
I will also agree with you that the prices on the used trim pieces are quite high too. No guarantees that the clips are intact or whether the pieces were removed with trim tools as opposed to a screwdriver.
My truck came with 5 holes - 2 running down the middle, 2 at the rear and one by the front passenger for the light bar.
There's an ebay seller with plugs that work perfectly for covering these holes...
My truck's been quite reliable so far apart from some common GMT900 platform issues (which I'm tackling when I have time).
Your oil pressure is what mine is after changing the O-ring and your engine idle hours are very low. Makes me wonder if your motor was overhauled recently or the vehicle...
Congratulations on your purchase. Before pulling the trigger on our '14 PPV the wife and I cross shopped it with a '13 K9 PPV at the same dealer. It had a cleaner driver/passenger interior and the body was overall better but a quick OBD scan (on the test drive) revealed emission faults and the...
That price is quite high for a 10 year old truck especially if it's a RWD PPV and not a 4x4 SSV variant. Is the seller the second owner after the police/government or is the car coming straight from the auction. The mileage overall is quite low for a decade of use but there'll be engine idling...
Hey guys,
Noticed that on occasion the reverse/back-up lights stay on when in Drive or even when the vehicle is turned off. I have to turn the car on and then cycle through the gears until the lights go off. Did a little digging on the internet and it turns out some GMT900/NNBS trucks have an...
^^
What's Katzkin pricing like?
I've been looking at the sets below on eBay:

If you're a DIYer, you'll need to safely put the car on ramps or stands and have a look at it as @Galante said. The truck's almost a decade old and you may get the odd leak as gaskets and seals age.
@Paddy - yes I agree that both going bad is odd. In my case it's just the one P015D and it seems to happen right after I fuel up at an 'unfamiliar' fuel station. Do try clearing the code and running 91 Octane to see if it might be a case of 'bad fuel'.
