I'm working on converting my dash lights to bright white LEDs and I'm wondering if these are supposed to have lights on my 2004. They might be burnt out on mine because they don't light up. Also, if anyone knows where a write up for these buttons are OR for converting the DVD player buttons that...
I figured it out... I realized the little gold disc slides UNDER the button. I never would have guessed that. Hopefully this helps someone else out with the same problem.
This is so stupid, I can't believe I have to make a post about this... I put LEDs in my headlight selector/dimmer/dome override switch and I'm having issues with the dome override button. It's supposed to stay part of the way in when you press it once (like a toggle button) and it won't click...
I need to send in a couple of dash pieces like my rear wiper/fog light switch and headlight switch to have LEDs installed. I thought there were some places like on eBay to send them to but now I can't find any. I did find some that were for the steering wheel controls or gauge cluster though...
I FINALLY got around to getting this fixed today! Only took about two years!
I scheduled an appointment with my dealer and I only briefly described the problem to them and they seemed to know exactly what it was. Cost $125 and about an hour and a half of waiting.
Oh I see, that's too bad... I really thought I was onto something here! But still I really like the idea of using it for SOMETHING. Do you know how to wire it up for something basic?
Does anyone know how to go about wiring up the extra + and - buttons to do something else? I thought it would be cool to use them for a light bar switch if possible.
I did it myself. It would've been a picnic had I not been lazy and used an impact on the threadlocked bolt holding it in. Completely stripped the head with the first pull. Then I had to drill it out. Other than that it was pretty easy.
Only the + and - buttons wont work on your 2006. Tow/Haul will work. With my 2004 all I had to do was swap the plugs. They're similar just the newer one has four pins instead of two.
Old post I know, but has anyone had any issues with the plastic steps digging into the paint? I just had my chrome rear bumper sandblasted and painted like a Z71 by a body shop and now I'm worried about the steps digging in. The shop said they would use the "good" clear coat so that wouldn't happen.
I ziptied them to the bumper bracket above the housing. I placed the zipties over the wires coming off each side of the ballast so they wouldn't melt. I'm sure they get pretty hot.
I'm no expert but I think they use a good amount of power as they are 60W. They came with ballasts, "ECM Capacitors" and "Polarity flip adapters". I tried both of the two extra ones separately and the lights wouldn't turn on. I haven't seen anything about a relay for these but I know what you're...
I just remembered I also bent that metal piece inside the fog light housing up out of the way and then flattened it out as much as I could. I think that helps some too.
They were simple plug and play. They come with a couple of extra wiring harnesses for certain cars but they weren't needed for mine. Just the plug in ballast was needed with the bulb.
I was hoping the pictures would do more justice but if you pay attention to the light output it's better than before. They're basically like having a second pair of low beams.
Only fogs
Both lows and fogs
Lows only
Fogs only
Both lows and fogs
Like I said, I'm really impressed with these...
If anyone is still curious about simple bulb replacements I ordered these bulbs and I'm very impressed with them. They're bright as hell and I can finally tell the difference when the fog lights are on. I might even order the ones for my low beams. They seem like really good quality and I'm not...
Couple of questions for ya:
Is there an easy way to tell if yours came from the factory with electric fans?
By full exhaust do you mean full dual exhaust?
I'm interested in getting some more MPGs as I'm averaging not even 14 with a small lift and 32" tires and stock exhaust.
I removed my door moldings and installed Tahoe flares. I like the clean look without the moldings. I got mine from eBay but turned out the ones I got were "like factory" and were about the same but didn't have holes. That part was really annoying to install. That's what I get for only paying...
I've had a K&N CAI for a few years now on my 5.3. It's hard to remember but I'm pretty sure I noticed a little bit better acceleration but I didn't notice any mileage difference. It also sounds awesome because it gets rid of the sound chambers from the stock intake. I've never had a check engine...
