The heater is still not working properly... It seems to consistently blow cold air for too long and then something happens and it works like it should.
Does anyone know of a troubleshooting or diagnostic procedure to help me run down what is going on?
Thanks!
Thanks for the replies, guys. Scotty, I will try it in manual mode and see if that makes a difference. I will also look at the HVAC reset - thanks RR. The engine temp seems to come up to normal operating temp in a normal time.
I'll pay a bit more attention to the times it takes for various...
With the climate control system in "Auto" the fan runs up pretty high, like the heater core is warm and it's trying to warm up the truck. The air is very cold, almost like the AC is on. Then at some point it starts blowing warm air.
It really seems like the t-stat is stuck and then releases...
So the outdoor temps are going down and i've started using the heater. The heater blows ice cold air for probably 10 minutes or more after the engine has come up to operating temp. It then will blow heated air as it should. The Tahoe is an LT and i have the climate controls set at 75 degrees...
i, too, use full synthetic oil and go between 6-7000 miles before i change. i reset my "Trip B" odometer at the oil change so at the push of a button i can tell how many miles i have on the oil.

Good luck!
Thanks guys, you have me pointed in the right direction. I know there is a main ground to the frame… are there other grounds i should check?
The truck has 173,000 miles so i'm not surprised it may need a new starter.
Thanks!
About two months ago i bought an '06 Tahoe and it seemed to have a weak battery. No problem, it always started, but it was telling me it needed a battery pretty soon.
Went to the store the other day and it would not start when i came out. When trying to start the electrical comes on - dash...
I watched a youtube vid of a guy that wet sands the light covers with first 600 grit and finishing with 2000 grit. They will look pretty hazy but then he sprayed the light covers with a clear coat "paint" in a rattle can. I just did mine and it looks great.
If you do this be sure you get...
Thanks guys, good advice. I basically wiggled the wires and unplugged and replugged a couple of connectors and it looks like it's working properly.
Yeah, that junction box is in an odd place and was pretty corroded. If i have any more problems i'll replace it.
Thanks again!
OK, new guy here, i have an '06 Tahoe LT, 173K miles, and am having an issue with the brake lights.
I press on the brake pedal and the left light (drivers side) comes on bright, normal operation. The right one comes on but is not as bright as the left.
If the headlights are on when i press...
I've had good luck bringing my own oil and filter to an oil change place and they do the change. They usually charge me around $20 for the labor. Sometimes that's worth it to me and other times i change it in my garage...
Thanks guys, i actually wanted the title to this thread to say "Todays Newby" but it autocorrected to Newly… Ha! Anyway this looks like a great site and i'm sure i'll learn a lot about my Tahoe.
Hi guys. Just picked up an '06 Tahoe LT. Nice truck, got a few miles - 172K - so i'll be looking around for DIY maintenance help and some upgrades.
