    2014 Yukon XL - Gear Swap - 4wd

Ok did some research and looks like to upgrade past the 3.08 gears to 3.73 requires a new carrier for the rear but the front is requiring a full new axle??? Would a rear gear spacer allow for a me to do this swap successfully? Surprised I have not gotten much feedback on a performance upgrade...

    Brake question

With your heavy rig and cross drilled rotors be sure to thoroughly look on both sides of the rotors and inspect for any cracks. With these heavy rigs and braking the brakes take a pounding. I have head / seen on more than 1 occasion where cross drilled rotors crack / break due to the rapid...

Electric Radiator Fans running more than usual

This may be a dumb question, but do you have the Fron / Rear A/C turned on? If so its trying to pull air through the condenser to aid in cooling. If you turn off the AC it should shut off the fans in ~10-20 seconds. If they are always on then it could be a stuck relay - but 99% of the time...

    2014 Yukon XL - Gear Swap - 4wd

Anybody have any ideas or have done this gear swap? Will the stock Carrier (Differential) support a change from 3.08 gears ===> 3.73 gears? I am not sure what the break point is for this. Thanks!

    2014 Yukon XL - Gear Swap - 4wd

I hope I dont have to pick up a new set of differentials (carriers) - otherwise its going to be a set of ARB Air lockers on the front / rear of this bad boy :-D

Bump - Will 3.73 Gears work with the stock carrier (that currently has 3.08 gears)???

    2014 Yukon XL - Gear Swap - 4wd

I am trying to find out the exact information I need for a front / rear gear swap and having found the following: I remember when I did a gear swap in a Cutlass the differential supported up to a 3.23 gear but anything higher either required a ring gear spacer or a different differential to...

Anyone tried the new Nitto Ridge Grapplers?

Ha I was wondering the same thing when I was looking for tires. The cheapest I could find was $265 each for 33" tires. I ended up picking up a set of DickCepek Fun Country tires and installing them instead. I cant find any reviews or information about them except from the normal outlets "they...

New Tires Installed! - Dick Cepek Fun Country 285/70R17 (33")

Snagged a few more photos of the Yukon - Used a Prius for scale! After ~250 miles on there the tires seemed to have quited down (maybe due to the tire hair starting to fall off?) Traction in the mud / dirt is awesome and hooks up with out needing to put it in 4wd and the treads cleanout...

New Tires Installed! - Dick Cepek Fun Country 285/70R17 (33")

Just an update - Changed the tire pressure to 45psi and that made a huge difference in the tire noise and handling. The door says to put them at 30psi which i think is waay to low for these tires. I'll do the chalk test So far - Pro's 1. traction is awesome on the street, rain and mud 2. Little...

New Tires Installed! - Dick Cepek Fun Country 285/70R17 (33")

Thanks for the heads up on the tire pressure! I'll bump it up from 38psi to 45psi and do the chalk test later today and see where it ends up. I can turn it wheel lock to wheel lock and do not have any rubbing issues what so ever which is a plus in my book. CCM 2.5" Leveling kit for the front...

New Tires Installed! - Dick Cepek Fun Country 285/70R17 (33")

Ha! here are the rest of the photos! Didnt get a chance to post them last night! So no more click bait! Also for load range E tires, what PSI should I be running at? (Max is 80PSI @ 3195lbs) The tire shop put them at 38 PSI which might be a little low. I also took some video that i will...

    6.2 or 6.0 swap

If you are going to do it I would suggest getting the 5.3L and doing some mods to it. But if you are looking for a plug and chug application I would suggest finding the following: Finding Chevy, GMC or Tahoe donor from the junk yard, yank the engine, tyranny and ECU. You might be able to find an...

CNC Heads, Shorty Headers and other engine mods..

Ha! I wish the stall converter was electronically controlled! That would make it nice and easy! Usually a stock stall is around 1000-1500rpm. Typically stall lock up is defined by the impeller speed in the torque converter and the lockup is a solenoid that engages the impellers to "lock"...

CNC Heads, Shorty Headers and other engine mods..

I think I found my answer. Good to know which gears are most prone to failure with the clutches! The input shaft is always been an issue on gm vehicles as this is what I did to my TH200-R4 (Hardened input shaft, 10 vein pump, 2200 stall lockup converter and a B&M Stage II Shift kit). The...

CNC Heads, Shorty Headers and other engine mods..

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it! I have re-geared other vehicles in the past and it makes a huge difference as well.. One thing also to consider when upgrading your cam is to 1. have the matching springs and lifter ratio for your cam, and 2 have correct stall converter / gears that...

    Super charger advice

not to hijack the thread but if you CNC the heads, new intake, throw on some headers, new throttle body and a cam will probably be cheaper than the $6,000 for the super charger. $6,000 will get a lot of motor work done and could probably even get a full rebuild with out having the hassle of a...

ProComp AT Sport vs DC FunCountry vs MT Baja ATZ p3

Yeah I have looked at them - they are a pretty decent tire but not aggressive enough for what I want :-) I did have the Fun Country II's on a Duramax Diesel I had and they were pretty awesome tires. Just curious if anybody has had much luck with these. Thanks for the info #1Taho! - Good to...

Largest tire on a 2015 Yukon with leveling kit?

LOL they have not change the bolt pattern on a Yukon, tahoe, or Escalade in over 10+ years They are all the same 6x5.5 I doubt they did a big brake upgrade on the 2015's that would keep the 17" wheels from working though.

Largest tire on a 2015 Yukon with leveling kit?

Yeah i usually end up getting crickets when I ask technical questions as well. Ive got the 2.5" front leveling kit with 1" spacer in the rear and will be running 285/70R17 (~33" tire) From my measurements - no rubbing in the front / back Good luck!

Installation of Rough Country 2" Leveling Kit

I just went though this as well and spent a few hours on the drivers side trying to figure it out. 1. I did disconnect the tie rod as it allowed me to hit the bump stop 2. I did NOT have to remove the upper ball joint 3. Just as a little tip for the future. The upper control arms are...
