240k miles. To build or not to build.

Considering building my Tahoe with 240k miles. Physically, she needs a solid detail and a head liner. Mechanically she sounds solid, minus a questionable battery. Suspension is starting to become a little squishy. Needs front brakes. Water pump, belt, thermostat, rear brakes done within last...

    Starts and dies, any suggestions.

So strangest thing, after I was done messing with it yesterday evening we went to my in-laws for a bit, came home, put the key in, turned to auxiliary let the lights do there function through and bam she fired right up, been driving it all day around town and haven't had a problem. Who knows.

    Starts and dies, any suggestions.

So I've got an 04 and right at 240k miles. She currently starts and then dies right away. If I start it and keep my foot on the gas she will stay running but then dies immediately after taking my foot off the gas. No lights on the dash either. She ran find this morning, not problem. Now...

Decided on wheels, now tires. A/S Performance or A/T

Yes they're for the Denali. Just curious what you mean by don't meet the minimums? My apologies but I've never really looked into stuff like this (never really had anything worth upgrading). To me it sounds like the sum of the capacity of all wheels should be equal or more than the weight of...

Decided on wheels, now tires. A/S Performance or A/T

I'm not sure of the weight carrying capacity of the current wheels, their aftermarket, and I googled them, found them, but that info wasn't listed. The new ones have 2250 capacity (if I read it correctly, assuming Load Capacity is the same thing). As far as performance goes, I'm leaning more...

Decided on wheels, now tires. A/S Performance or A/T

My wife decided on some wheels. Now I'm looking for tires. At first I was thinking of doing a small lift but I think I decided against that. I'd like to lower it just a tad and make it go fast but she doesn't want to lower it. But she did ask for a cold air intake (i'm hoping this is the...

Rim and tire suggestions for no rubbing.

Defiantly helps, I'll look at this size a little more, I wouldn't mind sticking out slightly or flush. This is kinda what I was thinking, and since we like the way it sits now, I was trying to find something to match what is currently on there, and think we just might be ok. I was thinking...

Rim and tire suggestions for no rubbing.

Recently purchased. 2012 Yuokon Denali that came with aftermarket chrome rims and low profile tires that we don’t like. Current size is a 305/40 R22x10 with a 15 offset. After using my friend google I’ve learned the current tire size measures about 31.6” high. Would I be correct in assuming...

AWD reliability ? How much power can they handle ?

Thanks for the info guys, it's greatly appreciated. I've never really considered the Yukon before, but thanks to my wife and a few minutes on youtube it's being to grow on me. Seems more luxurious than Tahoe but not quite an Escalade. And I really like the AWD concept. @67RS427 I'm beginning...

AWD reliability ? How much power can they handle ?

I'm looking to purchase a 2012 Yukon Denali with a 6.2, AWD and 122k miles. My knowledge of the GM AWD system is, well I don't know anything about it. I know Subaru's and Audi's for example can handle there fair share of power and abuse. So I was curious what the GM could handle. Could it...

    Suspension guidance / recommendation requested.

After a lot of reading and look through the 34 pages of pictures and set ups, I think I've narrowed it down but not 100% certain. Model is an 2004, 2wd, completely bone stock. I'm thinking of going with the a Belltech 2/3 kit with shocks. Adding sway bars at a later date. I'm currently on...

Time for a water pump, but a few questions first.

Disclaimer: I am no mechanic. Brakes, batteries, and oil changes are about the extent of my current ability. So after locating the source of a huge puddle under the tahoe and an empty coolant reservoir and leaking from the water pump I figure it's time for a new one. This is a task I'll be...

Newly acquired 04, needs first oil change, but?

While this is the first time I've changed my Tahoe oil, I used to change my jeep all the time. And I'd also let my oil drain for an hour or 2 while I worked on other chores around the house. It's actually relaxing and almost therapeutic in a pay.

Newly acquired 04, needs first oil change, but?

Thanks for the info guys it's appreciated. I just went wit the valvoline high milage blend. She really only gets driven on the weekends and on family trips. Not to say I want something bad to happen but I'm not running up the miles. Just a side note. It's pretty sad I can buy some ramps from...

Newly acquired 04, needs first oil change, but?

Here's the deal. It's time for my new to me 04 to get her oil changed. Currently sitting on 218K miles. I know you can go from conventional to synthetic but not supposed to go from synthetic to conventional. I'm no mechanic by any means so forgive me if some of these are dumb questions. So my...

Tire advice, stock or worth it to go larger

They are probably the least researched item I've ever bought. I found out about the deal and they were the only tires in stock. Watched a couple youtube videos and went with them.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Got some new tires today. Ended up going with Cooper AT3s in 265/70 R17. Thanks to the Braves hitting al home run in the 4th this weekend I saved $144

Tire advice, stock or worth it to go larger

Thanks for the info guys, I knew the size wasn't a huge difference. Kauffman Tire here in GA runs specials according to the ATL sports teams. Well the Braves hit a homer in the 4th so the following day you get $144 off any 4 tires. So I went with the stock size. I wanted the Toyo open country...

Tire advice, stock or worth it to go larger

When I bought the tahoe knew it needed tires asap. My question is do I stick with the stock 265/70 R17s or go for something like a Procomp leveling kit and go for 285s. Price difference including the addition of the leveling kit is about $600 ($280 tires w/roadside hazard)($280 Pro Comp Nitro...

New Tahoe owner, door lock problem

I just purchased the tahoe yesterday and went to walmart today and when we got out of walmart this afternoon we realized the key doesn't open the door. You insert the key and it just turns left and right but doesn't engage to unlock. Lock guy came out and after the lock smith came out it turns...

New guy, from outside the ATL

Just wanted to say hi, I'm Mike and currently live outside of the ATL. I've always been a Chevy guy at heart having owned several and I'm pleased to say I'm back in a Chevy as of last night with the purchase of 2004 Tahoe. It's my goal to transform it into a expedition/family camping/boating...
