May have a clogged orifice screen?? They can give you fits. You really need to see the high side pressure to give you a better picture of whats going on.
You are mistaken sir, no changes that effect how the trans will work or IF it will work, cause it will, I should know, I've interchanged these things for years with no compatibility issues.
For the front, remove the molding that runs along both sides and the top.

Ive done a bunch of gear swaps in the past. I think the truck going from a 3.73 to 4.30 will be perfect. It will tighten the converter up some and give me more acceleration loaded and unloaded, but Im doing it mostly for pulling.
Yes, their fueling is weak, and their timing curves are weak. Plus you can really liven the trans up with increased line pressure. It will amaze you how well it can shift when programmed correctly.
