maybe one day she'll take an interest lol
right now we have 2 weeks to get this car all set before she comes back from college to pick it up
since she goes to school a few hours away, it wouldn't be easy for her to come over every night to work on it anyways...
been working a lot on the sister's truck lately, but finally started putting some plans in motion for mine
swapping from 4 18s down to 3 18s. going from a box I designed, to one designed by a professional. single layer on mine with 2 baffles on top, to 2 layers all the way around and 3 on top...
dad rigged up what he thinks will be the answer to keeping hatch handles on
we'll be putting it to the test soon, as I'm getting a new box, much larger battery, another amp and hoping to double my SPL level :)
Haha I think we've all been there :) everyone in my family has looked at newer and "better" vehicles, and we keep on ending up just buying more GMT800s
a great reliable platform, and there are so many different things you can do with them to make each truck unique
unfortunately the sister...
the vehicle is currently at my parents house, and my dad has been fixing most of the quality of life things (heated seat not working, window switch, cosmetic interior, etc)
the first time I walked in to see it, he already had ripped the bumper off
evidently it was rusted through in some spots...
Hey all,
You may have seen my other thread:
or one of my many other vehicles...
anyways, my sister just picked up this Tahoe last weekend as her first real vehicle. before that, she had been driving our parents' hand me down 1999 s10 blazer
2003 Tahoe LT 5.3l v8, 3.73 gears, 4wd
157k miles...
lost another hatch handle today
I don't think I even got to use it once before it broke :(
I'm thinking now that it has less to do with cheap chinese handles, and more that the vibration is tearing them apart. I haven't had any trucks in the past that were this loud
gotta figure out...
yeaaahhh. luckily I will be able to get most of my money back when I sell the audio and vehicle eventually :)
haven't lost money on an SUV yet
I watch a lot of racecar modding YT channels (justa6, streetspeed717, etc) and I can only imagine how expensive it is
luckily I just like slow and...
I always tell people that these 00 - 06 vehicles are just adult legos :) so many different combinations and things you can do!
today I finally took off those ugly ass moldings on the side:
also threw on my replacement cheap chinese crap rear hatch handle :)
yeah it seems people either love or hate these bumpers lol. it's probably my favorite thing about the truck now
I traded the crappily built 10" doors for my old 4 8 doors
also swapped my SoundQubed HDX318s for Sundown ZV318s
ended up losing some bandwidth and dB, so they'll be going back up...
after many more hours of unsuccessful attempts, we finally got it "ish"
I say "ish" because we cut out a lot of material from the bumper we didn't need to cut, it isn't perfectly straight, it doesn't line up exactly as it should (see the distance between bumper and fender) and I still need to...
we have the bumper kinda jerry rigged in place now
we're going to attempt to cut up that 1999 s10 blazer rear shackle that we had lying around, and use that to drop the bumper 2" from the OEM holes, so that the grille and lights will fit
mine only had 4 18mm bolts total, nothing else. I'll get pics the next time I have the OEM bumper
ALL of the videos I watched showed 15mm, but we made damn sure, and mine were definitely 18mm
no bolts on the side brackets that I'm aware of...
after many hours of swearing, grinding bolts, WD40-ing rusted out crap, etc we were able to come very close to mounting it up
the OEM bumper came off easy enough
4 18MM bolts was all that held it on there
however, the new bumper required a lot more clearance
we're hoping to have it up and...
been thinking about buying a Ranch Hand bumper forreeevverr, like since my first Tahoe in 2016
but didn't like the $1200 price tag and couldn't find any used
FINALLY found something similar today. it was a 20 minute old post when I saw it
just 2 bolts and some welds holding it on, so we were...
I just got frustrated too early on when the permaseal wouldn't come up, so I ended up prying with screwdrivers and breaking off a lot of plastic on the housing. as a result I broke several of the mounting legs and left MASSIVE gaps that I duct taped to close, and prevent water from entering...
