cutoff actually isn't too terrible on the ghetto retrofit

low beam before:

high beam before:

low beam after:

high beam after:

it just looks like the brights on one of them is messed up

I'll probably have to take it apart to be sure, but I think the driver side shield isn't opening up all the way

Retrofit light output looks good! Really considering this!

Helluva difference.

once I figure out the high beam issue and rebuild these, I think they're going to be fantastic

I'm already SSUUUPPPERRR impressed with the low beams. I forgot just how big of a difference a nice HID retrofit made.

Other than the Permaseal issue, and the fact that the OEM Depo shroud wouldn't work, the retrofit is pretty straight forward

just need more heat and patience for this next set I think

also got some more PR scores

154.2 db on the glass, 155.1 in the kick

currently the 6th loudest no wall tahoe with 2nd row seats, in the world as far as we can tell

I don’t understand, why do you have to take the lens off those lights when you just need to use the brackets and different bowl ?
Didn’t @Fosscore retro his depos ?

All rear windows are tinted, wouldn’t be able to see them. Plus the actual size of seeable window is half the size of the actual window. Which is crazy

He was just trying to remove the projectors, not open the headlights. I’m guessing the repeated trips into the oven to soften the permaseal around the projectors themselves ended up melting the housings.

I just got frustrated too early on when the permaseal wouldn't come up, so I ended up prying with screwdrivers and breaking off a lot of plastic on the housing. as a result I broke several of the mounting legs and left MASSIVE gaps that I duct taped to close, and prevent water from entering.

when I build the new ones, I take some pics of the old ones so you can all see what NOT to do

Try using epoxy instead of duct tape for those holes.

FYI, I carefully cut the lip around the edge of the projectors with a good razor knife in a couple spots so I could get started cutting, that lip isn’t important to save. also, instead of heating the whole headlight in an oven I used a heat gun on the projector base itself since I wasn't splitting the whole headlight open. That way I was able to just concentrate on the projector itself and probably got the permaseal hotter than in the oven. Heat gun, razor knife, heat gun, insert screwdriver, heat gun, razor knife, pry. Its still hard.IMG_9408.JPG

I’m looking at the depo lights. Do they come with different shrouds now ?
