He has one of those huge gun boxes in his cargo area and the top is carpeted... I would love one of those, but can't justify the outrageous ($1200+) cost. I'm thinking about building one.

Will that settles that, thanks for the confirmation.
Just a hint that I learned from my brother (who's a police officer) on how to clean our flooring...
He goes to coin operated car washes and uses the suds brush to scrub out the interior floor surface. He then rolls forward to the vacuums and...
I'm not so sure how it would do with the rubber flooring... I've been mulling over getting one for the cargo area.

Yessir. They usually have awful descriptions, but you can email them and ask questions. Also be sure to ask for service records!

Buying straight from the department is without a doubt the best situation.
In September I bought my 2012 PPV with 130k for $4200 (plus a grand to ship it to MI, but I could have just as easily driven it back)

Cool! A set of 20" LTZ rims with snow tires just sold on CL for like $200 earlier in the week out there... I was out of town or would have snatched them up! I need winter tires for the "mild" winter we're expecting.

Good deal. I was just up in that area on my motorcycle to see the Tunnel of Trees. The northern part of the state is a whole different world than the Detroit area (and that's definitely a good thing [emoji6])

You can always buy the Tahoe directly from the source...

It may take some time to find exactly what you want, but I got a heck of a deal on my 2012 (as well as several Crown Vics over the past several years).

That's one heck of a system!
With the EVO-ALL it's not necessary to leave a key in the ignition. The shift interlock must be modified to work with no key in, but our vehicles don't have steering wheel locks.

It was quite a wiring project, but the directions are pretty good, and it's all simplified with the EVO-ALL tie in.

I installed that same exact system in my '03. It worked flawlessly until I sold the truck... I'm sure it's still fine for it's new owner. I did have to additionally install a Fortin EVO module and program it to the truck to get the remote start to work... I've been seriously considering doing it...
I'm not sure... I only found it because I was trying to isolate a slightly rough idle in drive with my foot on the brake. I did all the usual tune up suspects and still have it...
I understand the Hummer one is more hearty, but isn't also more solid (meaning feeling the engine more)?

Yes, this was my concern, as well. I picked up a set of 17" Silverado rims for $80 including center caps and lug nuts today from Craigslist, so I'm just on the hunt for some appropriately sized winter tires.

Does anyone know if 16" rims will fit on the PPV? I have a line on an inexpensive set of winter wheels/tires, but I'm concerned that they won't clear the brakes.
Has anyone done this?

Replaced the worn out, nasty PPV rubber steering wheel with a good used leather one from eBay! And now I have steering wheel controls for my radio.

Thanks for the heads up. Mine just arrived today and does a great job hiding the cr*p in the cavern beneath it! Now I look all organized and such!

My 03 was lowered with spindles. This is a PPV, so it already looks a bit lower than stock [emoji4]
Plus I recently moved to Michigan, and I don't want my Tahoe to be a snow shovel!

Passenger wheel hub started making an awful grinding sound. Replaced my passenger side hub and the old one sounded like a bag of rocks when I was spinning it by hand. I'll be doing the driver side this evening. The hubs really aren't too bad to do with just hand tools and strong arms... I'll...
Since you already have an aftermarket radio installed, it means nothing. Natively in our vehicles there is no ignition-switched power at the radio. This module provides switched power that turns off with the ignition (and after you open a door).
