Also here is an official report from CARB outlining that an AFM delete doesn’t affect emissions.

I am not the first to do this nor will I be the last, here is an entire thread about successful California Smog with AFM delete.

@Shackman7878 You can pass smog with an AFM delete, I just did mine again recently. I would be more curious about the motor swap than anything but from my experience as long as it looks like it belongs and there are no check engine lights and the emission monitors are set you should pass with a...
Yea if you have another vehicle that you can drive if this one goes down keep on driving it until you have a reason to rebuild it.
No sense in rebuilding it now, it could go for another 200k if you take care of it.
Someone wrote that Chevys run like garbage.. but they will keep running like...
That thing above the oil filter is sopping wet, that's the oil cooler block off plate like others have said. I would suggest looking and making sure that isn't the cause of the leak.
Also.. what in the world is this thing? Are my eyes deceiving me or is this a sponge that someone put in place...
I grabbed whatever assembly lube I could find at the auto store and applied it to all contact surfaces and then I attempted to prime the oiling system by running the starter for a few 10 second cycles until starting it for the first them. And then I just changed the oil when it looked like it...
@Writefast unrelated but one of your exhaust manifold bolts is either missing or broken off.
Both of your pictures are from the driver side and your starter is on the passanger side. Your starter had oil dripping from it which has me curious.
On the driver side you have the oil filter and oil...
@Writefast It's certainly not a new vehicle but if it's not leaving puddles on the ground I wouldn't worry about it.
Could just be valve cover gaskets, there isn't really anything above the starter other than the valve covers.
@Trey Hardy The problem is I only want to lift it 4 inches and most companies just use longer rear control arms instead of the drop brackets which might be fine but a goal for my next build would be to accomplish my ride height while maintaining near factory control arm angles.
@Trey Hardy My Tahoe build "is complete" so I have no real need right now but In 3-7 years I would like to redo it.
It seems like most of the good kits for the GMT900 were discontinued so I was hoping to find luck in parts made for some of the "current" generations of GM SUVs.
The lift kit...
@Trey Hardy I think you were the first to bring it to my attention. I want to understand how similar they are, I saw some beefy boxes control arms that said they were compatible 2007-2020 so far I feel confident the struts and control arms are all the same
@Marky Dissod In my research the rear...
The GMT900 suspension is obviously very different from the GMT800 suspension but recently I read that all Tahoe parts from 07-2020 are compatible.
Is this true?
If so that would open the possibilities
When I had a lifter failure everything looked great and I wasn't able to find any sign of a problem until I got the lifters out and then I found the problem. I was starting to get nervous up to that point.
@12XLYukon This test will only tell you if there is a problem, it doesn't tell you if everything is correct. For example, a lifter turned in the tray will still operate the rockers to the naked eye.
I think that pretty much debunks my theory, but the cam bearings look good. I've heard that main bearings are boring to look at because they always look perfect even with 200k
The valley cover and valve covers are painted?
This isn’t the first time this motor has had a lifter problem and it was probably rebuilt and put back together using AFM parts but didn’t properly address the cause of the failure.
There are electrical anomalies that can cause the AFM system to...
With the information provided I could only guess that it had something to do with the oil pressure sensor or the throttle body, you haven't given us a lot of information to work but I am trusting you gave us ENOUGH info to work with ;)
