anyone do E-fans on a obs??

I spent $200+ on mine to wire it up - disagree on the pros in my book...but at least I have a completely automated two speed!!! :) For me, the big pro was learning about this stuff...my dad and uncle got a kick of the science project I turned it into and we had fun working on it...

    Voltage drop/alternator question

smart move - unless you are running huge power, 4gauge is perfect...there is absolutely no need to run 0g for most ppl. Did you keep your existing wires and run the Big 3 in addition to current setup...or did you remove the factory wires? I personally recommend to keep the factory stuff in...

    Got the Ultra-Gauge

I was actually checking that one out earlier - it's tough to justify spending the extra $100 though....I also read somewhere it's the same owner of both products.

    Got the Ultra-Gauge

I've been watching their forums and they just released the metric version (good for you Canadians!!) and they are beta testing an updated gauge that also includes trans temp and a few others. This thing is so damn tempting....

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

wow - 17pages. Someone should do a CONSOLIDATED writeup to be stickied that discusses all the approaches, costs and do's/don'ts. Hmm...who could do such a thing...:drunk: What I get a kick out of, do we ever really discuss the REAL BENEFITS from the efan mod??? Honestly, I have a 6700lb...

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

I was thinking that too...poor guy originally just wanted to know how to install an Efan!! Atomic - to make this complete, do you have any extra efan or relay kits for sale??

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

Very interesting, really appreciate the details Hmm, I currently have my low fan triggering close to 190 so I bought a thermostat @ 185 so it was open before the fan kicked on so I'd get a more accurate response. For the sake of testing, maybe I'll run my higher fan temp sensor (198)...

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

But if my AC stays cool (since it's only sporadically there is no airflow), then why do i NEED the fans to be on? Why would a lower average operating temp increase gas consumption? (i honestly don't know, interested to learn more) Interesting on the PCM fan control - mine is a '99 so I...

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

check out ebay, there are usually a few on there for sale. My thoughts: The original reason I did not wire it in is b/c I see no need to draw that much power while the vehicle is moving. (my rig sees 95% highway) From a real-life testing standpt, the only time the AC doesn't work well is...

    Voltage drop/alternator question

i missed that, i thought you already completed the Big 3!! What gauge wire did you end up going with??

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

Apologize for my directness, but you do not need high speed if you use AC. Low/High speed are supposed to be temperature dependant...even if he has the AC on and he's sitting in traffic, with a Mark VIII the high will never trigger unless he has a gunked up cooling system. If you decide to...

    Voltage drop/alternator question

Exactly!! Check your connections and CLEAN YOUR MAF. There's a lot of guys on here that saw drops in voltage simply b/c their MAF wasn't clean and idle RPM was off. When you check your connections, clean off terminals and also scrape some paint where the ground points are. If you are...

    Rough cost on paint?

not to derail either - but Jay, your work is sick, amazing!! Every now and then I'm in Southport & Danbury area, so it's not a huge hike to your shop. I've been trying to think of something I can do to the paint on my 4dr that will make it unique - I'm definitely interested to connect with you.

    Voltage drop/alternator question

completely agree - he should not see a voltage drop on a 130amp alternator (which is why my original thought is that he had 100amp) with that setup....my question is more regarding the use of a 2nd battery. Actually - OP - what RPM are you idling at? when was the last time you cleaned your MAF?

    Voltage drop/alternator question

Not to sound difficult, but I'm still not sure how adding a second battery is going to help with voltage drops due to a weak alternator...second batteries are typically utilized so you can turn your truck off and still run the stereo & lights; or you have a mega system with multiple alternators...

anyone do E-fans on a obs??

you will have three wires coming off the fan, the color of wire changes depending on yr of vehicle it came from. Easy way to test - take the ground wire on the fan and ground it, then take the remaining two wires and one at a time, touch the positive on your battery. You will be able to feel...
