    '99 Tahoe - Expedition Build!

Over the last two weeks I installed a reman AC Delco steering pump and a new Moog pitman arm...for some reason the Moog pitman arm I had on there was shot in about 20k miles; idler was ok. Also, the big improvement was.... Installed a set of Realift Torsion Bar Relocators - very cool product...

1998 Tahoe LS 2 door !help me!

I've never had a zone, but if it did rotate the front diff up a little bit, that would definitely help with the vibration. You're right on the money with the vibration regardless of 2wd or 4wd...on a somewhat regular basis I forget the np246 keeps that front driveshaft spinning all the time (I...

Great info Julian on the different lift types. The DC lift is a REALLY nice lift as you pointed out TT...Bowtie runs one and even though it's a beast to install and pricey, the engineering is incredible. Increasing your driveline angle by lowering the front differential 6" is going to cause a...

Something to take into consideration is the installation of this kit. In general it will cost from $1k - $1.5k for a professional to install this for you. It's not overly difficult b/c the instructions are good, but you will be cutting, drilling and using an angle grinder on your...

Trust me, I understand what you're saying...6" is just an example! If you want a true 6" lift, then RCX isn't for you...look into other kits. IF YOU LIFT ANYTHING ABOVE WHAT THE SUSPENSION LIFT GIVES YOU, YOU WILL INCREASE THE FRONT END ANGLES...PERIOD. AFTERMARKET KEYS ARE F*ING USELESS, YOU...

:Plugged: Maybe an example will help! Lets say you install a true, 6" suspension lift. Therefore if you slap it in the truck and not touch the keys or your torsion bars, you will lift your truck 6". At this point, your upper/lower control arm angles have NOT changed from stock, they look...

1998 Tahoe LS 2 door !help me!

If you engaged your 4wd on the street over 35mph with 8" of lift in the front, you are going to have a nasty vibration running the OEM front driveshaft. Low speed 4wd you won't notice it but I'd bet you've got a pretty steep angle on that joint. Also, the various lift manufacturers have...

1998 Tahoe LS 2 door !help me!

Mike, I edited my previous message so it's a little clearer. Purchasing aftermarket keys will NOT help your front end parts. Aftermarket keys will only allow you to raise your truck even higher, putting ADDITIONAL strain on your front end parts.

1998 Tahoe LS 2 door !help me!

You are correct in a few of your points above....let me know if this helps. I think the exact measurement is somewhere around 5 - 5.5" of lift and then you can crank to reach 6" of lift... more if your torsion bars have some life left in them. At 6" of lift, you will have cranked CVs, but they...

1998 Tahoe LS 2 door !help me!

Mike, Good question, hopefully this helps. Using aftermarket keys essentially re-indexes your torsion bars which allows you to lift higher then OEM specs. Unfortunately you will still be putting MASSIVE strain on your IFS parts if you crank all the way, especially if you're cranked all the way...

    1999 Tahoe Hydroboost Install

Yes, it's very soft unfortunately...essentially the PS pump is running full pressure to the gear at all times. At low speed it's like driving it from the factory, but on the highway you notice it the most b/c this is when the variable speed would normally kick in. It drove me nuts at first...

Hmmm, to fit a 19" tall and 2"+ deep rad, you would have to raise and lengthen your tops mounts and in the picture they are the stock versions for the 5.7/6.5 motors. I guess I'm not exactly sure what you have then... OEM Stats: - 5.7L & 6.5L Rads: 34IN X 17 1/4IN X 1 5/16 - 7.4L Rad 34IN...

Thanks for the pictures, but it looks like you have the smaller radiator. The version for the 7.4L is taller and thicker..I don't like how my rubber insulators are sitting, so I'm hoping to find a OEM set. The flexalite 280's are nice, but I had no idea they cost so much $$$. I love their...

Do you have a photo of the top radiator mounting brackets? I'd like to see how Chevy set them up with the rubber insulators. When you say more space, what are you referring to? Are you running a shroud on your setup?

Hey Sunlit, here you go! ACDELCO Part # 21371 The kick in the butt is that the shrouds are discontinued and so is one of the top mounting brackets. The 454 K3500's are tough to find in my neck of the woods...so it took some digging to find a new shroud (Chevy warehouse in PA) and had to fab...

As Don mentioned, when you install the lift, this is the perfect time to replace any OEM front components - ball joints, tie rods, pitman/idler, steering box, control arm bushings, etc etc To complete the lift install, you need to take apart quite a bit of your front end, so you might as well...

    Brake Help

The cheaper Cardone Master Cylinders (and other aftermarket companies) are well known for leaking at that seal. As Sunlit mentioned, go for the new ones or at least an AC Delco unit. You be able to return the leaking unit with no problem and then bench bleed the new one and you'll be good...

This is a build thread after all...so I'll take a brief departure from trip photos to show some recent updates to the Tahoe After swamping the truck in a mud hole in Maine, just about every breather tube took on mud & water.
