I'm towing for the next few months up/down mountains, so we will definitely see how worthwhile this mod was!!
The one nasty part of this mod is that a grain of sand entering the system can cause the hydro to leak...so be VERY careful when you install and pay incredibly close attention to make...
Time to bring this back from the dead with results!!
Due to me being solo for this and a lack of any scientific equipment other then a wheel with a built in counter (no idea what it's called), these numbers have a high chance of error...so please don't take these stopping distances (60mph - 0)...
I can confirm now, the 3/4t master cylinder will NOT bolt up to our 1/2t vaccum systems.
The piston is different...also, a 1/2t master will NOT bolt up to a hydraboost unit; you must get the right master for the right hydro or vacuum.
(sorry to bring this back from the grave)
slipping - x2 on what bow tie said about the ubolts.
i hope this isn't it, but if for some reason your rear is walking b/c of loose ubolts, you are within a short distance of a major wreck.
Ubolts hold the axle to your springs in the rear...there are two ubolts on each side of your truck...
Enough $$ that I could another 4wheelin toy :Plugged:
On a positive note, I now know what every single bolt and hose on this truck does :)
For me, one of the goals of the build was to replace aging parts and concentrate on areas that I felt needed an upgrade over OEM. One upgrade I knew I...
My rig - '99 Tahoe 4dr 4x4
I just completed my 4.5" RCX lift and installed Bilstein 5150's (heavy valved - 255/70). After driving it on the highway, I could tell the dampening was off b/c the truck would oscillate after hitting bumps...sometimes taking as many as 4 up/downs to settle.
So, I...
Anyone fit a group 34 battery instead of the usual 78 into our rigs?
pretty big difference in storage capacity between the two and the price difference is nominal.
Thanks!
I actually have the nicer center caps in a box...their going on after the expedition as these are definitely going to get scratched. The ones they send with the rims, IMO, are not that nice looking. They look like big hunks of metal...the optional ones you can buy have a nice black...
i am having the same exact problem after doing the exact same work...as Sunlit mentioned, check the sensor on the front. We never touched ours and when the dealer scanned my truck, it crashed his computer.
I personally pulled the fuse on the airbag until i can fix the problem.
all sound advice, these things love to leak!
If you don't find the leak on the quick disconnect heater hose (they rust and fail regularly - its on top of the manifold next to the thermostat), then rent that pressure tester and go to town as was mentioned.
Have you ever replaced the manifold...
I have a near brand new set (100miles) of Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on Allied Steel Rock rims (5x4.5)...tires were mounted professionally and tubed.
There are x5 tires all together, mounted/balanced and ready to go - this set is amazing!
All-in (shipping, mounting/balancing, etc) the setup...
Lots of requests for photos of the console...here they are!
This console is still installed and probably will be for another 2-3wks until my new one arrives. If you are picking up and need it sooner, I can remove it earlier. If I end up shipping (last resort), assume I can ship in 2-3wks...
Amazing!! It was the heaviest out there, took the hardest lines and was stuck the least!!
The more I wheel the truck, the more impressed I've been with it's capabilities...

my preference is local pickup, but I'll ship at buyer's cost if it comes down to it.
Almost done with rebuilding the 14bolt...just finished up new pads and springs...tomorrow I bend and flare new brake pipes!
I bought wagner sever duty shoes for the full float rear., not the semi float I have - for anyone that needs to know, the semi float is a 11.**" rear, the full float is...
I'm building up my '99 Tahoe 4dr 4x4 (OBS) and have a number of parts that are in good working order to excellent condition that are being swapped out. This is/was a highway truck and was never abused.
I regularly travel between NJ/NY and randomly up to MA...if you're near, I can drop off for...
