Had this vehicle about a month. I would rather just delete the air ride all together and put in some bilsteins, coils, and level it. What are my options. I do tow so but it's less than 6,000 pounds..
I did search but on my phone it's not popping up anything for the nnbs.
What was the vehicle? If was a Tahoe that's great mpg I think. That's what mine got with 265 street tires and with the 285s it hasn't changed enough to notice.
slocaddy, I was thinking maybe the reason your gears wasn't such a big change is most go from 3.42 to 4.30. You went from 3.73 like I...
That's all I'm hoping for. I'm not trying to build a race Tahoe. Trying to build it better for cruising and pulling. I'm thinking 4.30 with 285s and a lq4 are the ticket.
Are they too hot? I find the stockers on low to be more than enough. Maybe I could put them behind some sort of foam or something to create a small thermal barrier.
I'd probably go with the 4.10s if I'm running a 3.42 stock or 4.30s if it's a 3.73 now. I want it to chug along on the interstate with much load on the engine. im thinking with the 285s, 4.10s and a 6.0 with a good tune will get me what I want. I want it to stay quiet too so a loud exhaust is...
You don't think 4:30s are to low? I'm never going to run anything bigger than 285 on this Tahoe which is about a 33 I thought. I'm going to put in a 6.0 too but that's a next year thing.
Thanks for the posts guys.. Gears are what I need not higher shift points. I can deal with the shift points until I swap in a 6.0 when this engine hits 225k. I have 170k on it now. I was confused how raising shift points was going to keep it from downshifting which was my chief complaint. I have...
Can you help me understand how raising my shift points will stop my the downshift from OD when I'm running 65 mph and come to a hill. I guess I should mention I want it to be able to pull the hill with out losing much speed either. So if it doesn't downshift I'll continue to lose speed?
I know that but I figured regearing would get the RPM's back where they needed to be and that would be more beneficial than changing the shift points. I guess what Im trying to say is with the 285s the spinning weigh is greater and they also have a greater diameter and the already under powered...
You were able to change the color of your odometer and gear indicator in your truck? How did you pull that off? From what I understand and this is just from reading the net, its just a green film thats put over them to change their color. You remove that film and add the color of choice? I read...
Bingo! I just added 285 Nittos.. I noticed it down shifts a LOT more now and hates even the smallest inclines. I will never put bigger than a 285 on this truck because I DD it and I just like the way they look better. If stock is 3.73 with the 265 and 4.56 with the 35's then I should be looking...
Got the alignment and nitto terra grapplers 285s on. Coming from a highway tread so they seem to make noise I'm not used to. Cranked my keys enough to get about 1 inch on lift in the front. When I hit a bump I feels clunky now. Guess I need new shocks. The heavier tires probably just amplified...
Not looking to raise the back just crank the stock keys to level it out. I have z71 so the rear is already a where I want it. Can I fit 285s with out leveling it?
The reason I ask is I'm buying tires and an alignment this weekend and Im wanting to buy 285 Nitto Terra Grapplers but I can't spend 300 bucks on new shocks just yet. I was going to run the shock extenders for a few months until I can new shocks.
That would bug me Aaron. Im trying to figure out how to convert the odometer and other LCD in red to match the others when I finally convert it all over.
