Incorrect valve lash can create misfires

Generally speaking, stock engines do well with 1/2 to 3/4 turn past zero lash. Zero lash is the point in tightening down the rocker nut where the cam lobe, lifter, pushrod, rocker arm and valve are all just barely in contact with each other. If the nut is tightened to the point where the...

    brighter headlight bulbs ?

Yup. They're OEM bulbs for other newer rides, so OEM dependability and plug and play. I have a full HID setup with relay harness and spare ballasts, 6000K IIRC. I'll never install any of it.

    Head or Lower Intake Gasket?

The code is P1345. So much for timing lights, weights & springs, and vacuum advance.

Confirming intake gasket and spider part #s

Not a good idea to use a tap unless you have experience and know what you're doing. A shadetree guy can use a rat tail wire brush with a shopvac right there to suck up the crud while brushing/cleaning out the threads. Then, best to wipe clean with lacquer thinner to promote sealing with new...

    05 Tahoe AC issues

Guys I'm trying to tell you. A full relearn worked in my rig. It's free and worth trying before taking the hush cover or radio or parts of the dash off before replacing one or more of the actuators. I read the sparkys page a few weeks ago. I had the cover off under the dash on the passenger...

    Gap guards?

Yes. I made some from HDPE sheet. I don't have a body lift though, mine cover the gaps from a suspension lift between the chassis and body in the front wheel wells.

    05 Tahoe AC issues

Try this... Unhook battery cables. Touch red and black cables together (still unhooked from battery) for 10 seconds. Then hook everything back up and start the truck but dont touch anything, just let it idle. I think this forces a hard relearn all systems. The HVAC will forget what happened...

Getting tuned up an running smooth again

I've only seen it done with a tech 2 or equivalent at my buddy's shop. This is the same device you said someone wanted $90 to plug in. If you were ready to buy a hot coil and some new sensors, which you probably don't need, maybe you could rethink paying the fee to hook up to this guy's...

I just lol'd a little. Apparently someone didn't like all these older rigs in their section. I saw the post, then saw that a modulator hacked up the thread, then was stoked to see this one had been created with the unwanted content from the other thread. FTR, when browsing this site on a...

Getting tuned up an running smooth again

Misfires won't set off the MIL until a certain threshold is reached. A scantool can show you misfire counts per cylinder, with the engine running. The only parts you should be using in the ignition system of this truck are OEM. An Accel coil is not going to help. Re-gapping plugs isn't going...

Compression and leakdown tests, as well as coolant pressure testing should provide accurate diagnosis.

Lifted Yukon XL - Suburban - ESV pics

This is my daily driver. I'm 2nd owner. Bought in 2010 with ~150K miles, now about 223K. Good southern truck spent its life in MS, so no rust. I've done quite a bit to it. Rebuilt entire front end down to gearbox, fuel pump/tank, MC/booster, pretty much everything else you could consider a...

This was at NRG in Houston on the loading dock before a Texans game where I had VIP access. It isn't necessarily the vehicle that was noteworthy or cool, but rather the passengers.
