05 Tahoe AC issues

Hey all, started having issues with the ac. It will blow fine, but occasionally would blow warm air for 10-30 seconds and then get cold again. Today on the way home it went hot and stayed hot.

Blows fast as hell, I have been told it may be the low pressure switch? Also it has the little tick behind the glove box, when I bought it I was given a little box with a part in it. Would have to go check what it's called but was told that fixes the tick.

Anybody had this issue? Anybody have any input?

Try this...

Unhook battery cables. Touch red and black cables together (still unhooked from battery) for 10 seconds. Then hook everything back up and start the truck but dont touch anything, just let it idle. I think this forces a hard relearn all systems. The HVAC will forget what happened to make it default to hot and relearn all actuator positioning. This will fix your problem if it was just a voltage drop or some other fluke single occurrence type event.

Look into the different blend door actuators in the dash to see if one might be causing your issue. I randomly have the "drivers side blows hot " problem, just haven't bothered to fix it yet

I didn't bother to check the passenger side to see if it was blowing hot. My AC has been back to normal since so I'm still putting it off. I do have an actuator for the passenger side.

I had this exact problem with my 05 Escalade. Eventually you will need to replace the actuator door motor...there is one that works both sides. This is a common problem in that generation of GM full size SUV's. You can DIY...parts are available online (Rock Auto) relatively cheap.

Mine started doing this today, hot on driver side, cold on passenger side. Dorman part is $135 at my local napa.

Guys I'm trying to tell you. A full relearn worked in my rig. It's free and worth trying before taking the hush cover or radio or parts of the dash off before replacing one or more of the actuators.
I read the sparkys page a few weeks ago. I had the cover off under the dash on the passenger side, and was prepared to pull and replace the actuator for the drivers side blend door. I stopped., performed the relearn and am glad I did. Perhaps eventually I'll have to replace it, but not until it's fully broken. The body control module controls the hvac. A voltage drop defaults to blend doors to hit. The voltage drop cold be arbitrary, or could be from the grease on the gears inside the actuator dripping onto the contacts. That's when the actuator needs to be replaced, when there is a regular voltage drop that defaults the actuator to full hot position.

I don't like to replace things until I know they're broken. YMMV.

I took mine apart and cleaned the contacts and redistributed the grease back into the gears like 10 months ago and it's never failed since. And the part was less than 50 bucks on amazon when I was gonna order it.
