    99 Tahoe AC Head Scratcher

I would recover the refrigerant in the system, do a leak test for at least 25 minutes, and if it passes the test, recharge with refrigerant. We use a Snap-On Polartek machine. Check the sticker on top of your accumulator for proper amount of R134a charge Only add as many ounces of PAG 150 oil...

97 Tahoe 2 door EZ Entry passenger seat problem

I just installed the EZ Cable Assy today on my 1997 Yukon GT. P/N 12383462. My original cable was frayed, and not operating the seat mechanism. One thing to note before you order parts: Check for “Rigging” of the cable at the inboard passenger seat rail beside the console. If you loosen the 8mm...

Solved! Snapped Bolt at Body Mount!

I got some long small diameter drill bits up to size F. I automatic center punched the bolt from below. I used an air drill and gradual stepped up the bit size as I drilled out the Center of the bolt with lots of cutting fluid to cool and lubricate. All went well until the side wall of the bolt...

AC Control Panel fries out with puff of smoke

I started my truck up after a big snow, and the snow melted and ran down through a panel underneath the black defrost grill on the passenger side. If you pull that grill, you will see an oval panel that is siliconed at factory. If the seal cracks, your blower motor duct is directly underneath...

    Spare tire storage

I just did the exact same thing on my 97 Yukon GT. That was original black rubber from the factory, that kept the spare tire from rubbing on the bracket. After 20 years in the heat it turned into tar. I cleaned it all off with a plastic scraper and isopropyl alcohol. I am going to tie wrap some...

Solved! Snapped Bolt at Body Mount!

I verified that there is no access from the top. I am going to try Center punching the bolt and drilling from the bottom....then thread chasing. I borescoped the captive nut through a hole in the frame. It looks quite rusty and dirty. I tried soaking in penetrating oil as best I could.

Solved! Snapped Bolt at Body Mount!

I sheared the body mount bolt off when trying to remove it. It is the rear drivers side just forward of the rear bumper. I got it turning with a 1/2 breaker bar, and the crack! Can I gain access from the top? 1997 Yukon GT.

What Motor Oil is everybody using?????

I use Pennzoil 5W30, and Fram filters. The 5L jug comes on sale every couple weeks, and I pick up 2 when I am about to do an oil change. I have to replace the oil pan gasket, so I don’t have to keep adding so much between changes.

    Refurbished OEM CD Player.

I have not contacted the Seller yet. I am going to see what they say. I think there is a 1 year warranty. Depending on what they say I might just fix it myself. Less hassle than shipping back.

    Refurbished OEM CD Player.

I installed bulbs in my old Radio Unit. They had that OEM incandescent glow. The ones in this refurbished unit glow a hot white colour when they work. When I ordered those 2 prong replacement bulbs they took 6 months to be delivered from China after I purchased on eBay! Luckily they came in a...

Multifunction Switch ( Turn Signal Switch )

I am exactly the same way. The springs that hold the 2 flaps on either side of the cigarette lighter closed, are getting weak. If I drive on a bumpy road those things vibrate in frequency. I couldn’t figure out how to slide the pin out, and get a few more wraps on the springs just by looking at it.

    Refurbished OEM CD Player.

Yes. I’m keeping it all stock, and fixing it up. I find the more you keep it stock, the less that goes wrong with it...... Lol!

It drove me absolutely bonkers! Lol. It seemed to get worse when it rained. Go figure.

    Refurbished OEM CD Player.

I bought a refurbished OEM CD/Radio unit for my 97 Yukon GT off Ebay. The unit looks nicely refurbished, the CD player works. It’s just the backlighting that is the problem. The bulbs shined a lot “Whiter” through the faceplate, and the top row is now working intermittently. At least I can...

    Tail Light Lenses Hazy

My Tail Light Lenses on my 97 Yukon GT were looking very dull and hazy. We have a Micromesh kit at the hangar, that we use to polish plastic aircraft windows. It comes with cleaner, abrasive paste, and wet sand paper. It works awesome on headlight lenses that erode over the years too. I just hit...

Not sure if anyone else experienced this....

I thought I had issues with my Air Conditioning not blowing through the upper vents. It ended up being the blend door actuators under the dash had broken. Was this part of your issue?

Multifunction Switch ( Turn Signal Switch )

I finally could not take the constant ticking of my turn signals, even though I had no turn selected. It would tick all the way on the drive to work, only pausing when I would step on the brake. I ordered the Multifunction Switch off Amazon for $70. I was very concerned about cheaping out and...

    5.7l Vortec Distributor Timing

I got the Cam Retard Offset working on DashCommand. I adjusted the offset to -0.3 degrees at 1500rpm. The cap is butted all the way counter clockwise to the upper intake. Thanks east302, my oil pressure sensor socket arrived today. Hoping pressure bumps up a bit with new switch.....
