Transmission bench. Those videos is what got me through it all! He never missed a step of what to do! You can go to youtube to watch all of his videos. Also he did the full rebuild using basic tools minus on or two specialized items (feeler guage, dial calipers...). Like you, my transmission was...
Good news and huge sigh of relief! it was the front prop shaft U-Joint. Drove Tahoe without front diff shaft and vibrations is gone!
Thanks for everyone's input!
Still original anti-clunk clip. It was actually in very good shape. Yup will keep case. Will grab case saver. Will make a great back up transmission! Thanks!
Think I found my culprit. Front diff drive shaft u-joint has a fair amount of play in it. Could I safely drive with the front diff prop shaft removed to confirm this?
Right now as it sits I really am not worried. I truly don't believe it's the transmission. Still leaning towards the Flex plate or Torque converter. Though it would be a pain I can replace them if necessary. This is expected for a maiden voyage shakedown. Find the bugs and fix it!
Also I will...
Update: Been driving the Tahoe getting more and more miles under her belt. So far, no issues but I did notice something when I starting getting a lot more aggressive in my acceleration.
I am getting a low vibration when I floor it. It’s a low vibration that increases with speed. The best way to...
Thank you! No actually I'm not an engineer. Just good with my hands. I always loved cars and quickly learned how to maintenance my own vehicles back in the day. Also thank you for your input in regards to your experience with clutches. I opted for Raybestos replacement in my build but did...
Understood. I went with Raybestos only because it was part of the rebuild kit through transmission bench hopefully I will get a long life out of them. I don't drive crazy, but I'm not light on the throttle either. I have no qualms about having the pedal meet the floor at times. I'm really...

I've heard a lot of conflicting stories in regards to the Z-Pak. Some like it and some did not. like you I decided to go with the 6 high energy frictions. A website called "RigidAxle" sell rebuild kits and for their 4l60e kits they switched from the Zpak to Alto red eagle frictions...
Thank you! The valve body is the rebuilt version from Sonnax. I believe it came with the updated transgo separator plate , TCC valve and Aluminum pistons. This was replaced about two years ago.. Even before the rebuild that felt a world of difference...
I have 276 miles accumulated so far. Nothing weird yet. Doing a lot of hard acceleration today. Kept the Tahoe at around 75mph on the highway. Constantly checking fluid after each drive. Nothing smells burnt so far. Level is slightly higher passed the hash marks, no foaming or anything. I may...
Hey all. A few days ago, I just got done with doing my first transmission rebuild on my 4l60e for my `00 Tahoe 4x4. I have barely 100 miles on her so far and with no issues (knock wood).
I am just giving you a brief description of what I’ve done and hopefully answer some question for any other...
Hello all! I am in the middle of finally rebuilding my 4l60e. Nothing wrong just creeping up on 300k and figure it's time for a "freshen up." Anyway in regards to the input shaft four sealing rings I know you have two types. The Teflon solid rings and the Teflon scarf cut. I was wondering what...
I know it seems like a lot but I got a quote from a tuner about a year ago about doing the ECU programming for my Tahoe for the e-fan swap. I will need to dig through my email for the letter as to who gave me the quote. Anyway I was informed that I would have to pay and have my ECM software...
Just completed my E-fan swap on my `00 Tahoe. Took about 6 hours from start to finish (I'm in AZ so it's stupid hot in the garage!) I decided to go with the e-fan control box from www.autocoolguy.com instead of the path most have taken doing the flash/programming route.
I been hearing about...
Update: After replacing my spider gears, carrier and wheel bearings. I notice that what I thought was the infamous "GM Clunk" can no longer be felt or heard. All this time I thought it was the driveshaft or transfer case, come to find out it was just warn rear gears and bearings.
Those...
FYI. About two days ago I repaired the driver side rear glass hinge. Feels stronger now. Hopefully it should last. Driver side hinge is still holding strong from first repair.
