Appreciate it but I watched that video over and over earlier today and still could not get it to work. I just found out why. I was in a bind since this is my only ride and I got it off of Amazon (which usually get most orders right) Anyway I believe I was sent to wrong gear set. I ordered a set...
My spider gears finally blew out a few days ago on my `00 Tahoe LS. Figured I order replacement and do a rebuild myself. I got the old gears out, the housing cleaned in preparation for my replacements. Well I got my replacement in (Yukon 8.6) and for the life of me I cannot get the spiders in. I...
Sorry for the late reply. Well the passenger side is still holding strong. The driver side gave a little (I may not have put enough on.) I was going to attempt a repair this weekend but I'm chasing a front end vibration. Maybe Ujoints (hopfully). So I may have to tackle the repair another weekend.
Hello all. I purchased weather stripping from LMC trucks about a week ago for my `00 Tahoe. After installing them on my front driver side door, my door will no longer close unless I slam the door extremely hard.
Is this normal and in time the WS will give some or is it a quality issue? If...
Ok. Weird update. Yesterday not to long after getting home from work my doorbell rang and it was a delivery with my taillights? I guess better late than never. Hopefully they work.
Just an update. I can't get these tail lights ordered. I placed an order from Amazon where I originally purchased them on the 22nd of last month. I finally had my money refunded by Amazon today (still have to wait the 3-5 days for it to show on my account) . I went to carid.com to get them and...
Tell me about it! To be honest I was expecting maybe a year/ year and a half. I decided to go ahead a purchase a new set then see if I can repair my current ones as backup.
Evening all! Hope everyone is well! Just giving an update on my taillights. Driver side blinkers just stopped working today. Brake lights and running lights still functioning. All things considering they lasted a lot longer then I expected. I may try to cut open the housing to see if I can...
When I took my Tahoe to the local garage to get the AC recharged he asked "how was it?" I told him the truth. I hated it but I got it done! He said "I hear ya, that is why we charge what we do for those jobs."
Thanks! Trust me, we are not heroes by any stretch. We just like to wrench and save money when there is none to throw around at a garage. :)
Also two weeks or 12 hrs we get it done!
My core was leaking. At first it wasn't to serious. I used a product called "K-Seal" to keep it under control. Actually the K-seal lasted for about 2+years. However not to long ago after replacing my water pump my heater core started leaking again. This time it was bad enough were the steam of...
I was curious about this hood as well. I've seen it on carid.com my only issue is that they suggest hood pins to keep the hood secured? I would like to get this hood as well for my `00 Tahoe but I want it to retain the factory latches and hinges. If you get this hood and that is the case (or...
That is a good question and I'm kicking myself for not seeing if it can be done. Since I was replacing the AC evap as well I did not check to see if it was feasible when I first took it apart.
Just replaced my heater core on my `00 Tahoe Yesterday and all I can say is that whomever I pissed off in my past life I am sorry!
Anyway I ran across this video last week showing a mechanic and how he did a heater core swap out that did not look like a disaster area vs other videos I seen...
To all: If you do decide to get the primer (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00473W5V8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), just remember. This stuff flows like water. Place this stuff on a foam brush or rag to apply to area that needs it. If not it's going to go all over the...
So far the 3M adhesive is holding steady, even in the AZ heat. I still monitor it (hinges) however, checking for possible separation. If you do decide to go my route don't forget the adhesive primer. Is it necessary? Maybe not but I used it anyway before using the adhesive.
That is where it got interesting. I heard to not remove all of the old adhesive and to use it as a "base" and to just scuff the existing to promote adhesion, apply the primer then adhesive. Then there were others who removed everything, starting from scratch. I chose the former. To make things...
