I used the 5200 on my lift glass hinge a couple of years ago. It just gave away again yesterday, same hinge. I suspect I didn't prepare the surface properly, didn't cure it properly, didn't apply it properly, or something.

Should I use the primer before the 5200?

I didn't remove ALL the old adhesive from the glass so that I could ensure the hinge went in the original spot. Is there a trick to align the hinge if all the old adhesive is removed?

I'll admit I didn't overlap the hinge as much as the original hinge was. This may have been the reason for my failure.

It was cool and I couldn't get the temperature up as high as I'd have liked to get a good cure. The adhesive remained a little soft for weeks. However, it did last a couple of years so eventually it would have cured.

Anyway, I'll be trying this again.

I heard something about a TSB for the rear glass hinge, or an updated rear glass in following years?

Does anyone know what years and models are compatible with the 2002 glass?

I may get a junkyard glass so I can repair my existing hinge on my own time.

All the glass hinges from 2000-2006 will fit those year suvs. However in 2005 the rear hatch changed. The older style has a trim surrounding the glass and those were the ones that were prone to the hinges separating from the glass. The 2005 and 2006 glass didn’t have the trim surround the glass and just had a small handled bolted through the glass at the base. Not sure how the hinge setup is different they’re not prone to separating like the older ones.
Edit: I just figured out why the hinges are different and why the 2005 style glass hasn’t separated. I’ll post a couple pics.

So from what you are telling me, a 2005 glass should just slip onto my liftgate even though the hinge is mounted differently. If so, I'll look for one of these. Thanks.

The hinges on the older style glass separate because the hinges is formed into the trim surround molding. It’s some sort of soft compound material. This is the 2004 esky hatch I just pulled off my truck:

@Larryjb , yes the 2005 style is a direct “plug and play” swap as it were. The top hinges where it mounts to the tailgate itself are identical.
this is the 2006 hatch that was originally on my truck and is still just sitting around my house. I need to get rid of it. Lol. But the hinges are directly on the hatch itself instead of being on the surrounding trim piece:

I'm a little confused at the moment. The picture shows where the lift support attaches, not where the hinge attaches. I'm interested in comparing how the 2002 and 2005 hinge itself is attached to the glass

Oh you mean the top hinges where it mounts to the liftgate itself?!
I was referring to the lift support hinges.
