Optimal Speed with 6.2 Liter Engine for Towing

Very good point about the brakes!!! Pulling at speed is one thing. But safely slowing or stopping from that speed is a far more important issue!

    emergency unlock / spare key?

The Altoids tin alone is not robust enough to block the sensors...has to be lined inside and out with the metal duct tape. A Faraday bag would have been simpler and easier, but the wife says I'm a cheapskate (I prefer "thrifty").

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

My solution as of now is to put the phone in the charger slot, and leave it in hands free mode for calls, texts, emails, Pandora, etc, etc. ("Hey, Droid, what's up?" is very handy) Then, if I need NAV, I plug in the USB and run Android Auto.

Any way to permanently turn off proximity alert? (Esp. when towing)

I spend a good deal of time towing my fishing boat with our 2016 Tahoe LTZ. When doing so, the proximity alert senses the nearby boat trailer, and buzzes and vibrates ceaselessly to warn me. I then turn it off, but it resets itself to "on" after every ignition cycle. Gets annoying, especially on...

    Memory seats question

I really like the seat memory feature, since my wife (driver 1) is 5'3", and I (driver 2) am six even. But it is annoying when we both board the Tahoe together, and seat position defaults to driver 1, even though I am behind the wheel. Our solution, when I am driving, is for her (and her purse...

    Missing features

+1. Also miss tilt-adjustable head rests, which have reportedly been mandated out of existence by Feds as a safety measure.

Anyone having problems with Siriusxm signal blocked?

Not really an answer to your question, but I have been more than happy with free Pandora radio, and have not renewed my subscription to Sirius/XM. With Pandora, and similar music readily available, I would think SiriusXM will not be able to continue to be viable.

Have a $200 credit at chevy dealer, what parts to buy?

I cannot imagine anything sold at the dealership that could not be sourced elsewhere at a much lower price. Example: My dealer asks $99 for a black bow tie grille emblem. I popped mine out, and Plasti-Dipped it for $8 bucks, and did the rear emblem while I was at it. Air filter: $38 at dealer...

    Any non-buffeting Tahoes out there?

My 2016 Tahoe has no buffeting, but I personally buffet every chance I get. I love those buffets...Golden Corral, Western Sizzlin'...YUM!

    emergency unlock / spare key?

I zip tied a spare key under the vehicle, and then put a spare fob inside an Altoids tin box that I lined with metal a/c duct tape. I store the Altoids box inside the console. Since the fob is inside the metal tape-lined Altoids box, the vehicle doesnt detect it. Works like a charm. Total cost...

Optimal Speed with 6.2 Liter Engine for Towing

Operating a motor vehicle at 85 as compared to 55 will indeed cause more wear on all drive train components, regardless of whether a trailer is involved or not. Higher speed = greater wear. A trailer exacerbates it. Simple. Now, whether or when the resulting accelerated wear is noticeable, or...

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

Used the Android Auto today: disappointed. Google Android Auto GPS was waaay better than the Chevy GPS, but not nearly as good as the GPS on the phone used "stand alone". Yep, read that again. With Android Auto, you effectively have 3 different options for mapping: the OEM from Chevy...

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

Just now finished at dealership. They tried to charge me $45 bucks for adding the Android Auto app programming to the MyLink system. I pointed out that I had earlier been told by the service writer that it was free. I even showed them a txt message from dealership when appointment was made, that...

New Member - Contemplating Grand Cherokee Hemi vs. Tahoe Signature

Well, there's no way you're gonna get 6 adults, and gear, into a Tahoe for a 6-hour trip. No way. A Suburban, or a Yukon XL, sure. But not a Tahoe and not a GC.

New Member - Contemplating Grand Cherokee Hemi vs. Tahoe Signature

I can't believe you guys find the Tahoe 3rd row seat useful. We find it entirely too cramped for anyone over about 3 feet tall. Ours is a 2016 LTZ, and we are unable to carry more than 4 adults. More than yhat, and we have to take two cars. 3rd row seat is useless for us. I'd remove it if it was...

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

Yup. Went by dealership today. They told me I indeed did need a software update on my Tahoe before I could run the Android Auto. They were too busy to do it then, so I got an sppointment for next week. Good news: no charge!

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

All I really want to do is have the Tahoe infotainment screen display gps/map images from Google Maps (from my phone) instead of the crappy, POS "maps" from the OEM gps system. I want to see Google Maps on the big screen as I drive, and not have to be distracted by looking at my tiny (in...

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

Been reading about Andriod Auto...sounds like: 1. Download the app 2. Get in the Tahoe (engine running) 3. Plug USB cable into phone and into Tahoe dash, then 4. Follow the prompts. Cant wait to try it! The factory gps has been the one major disappointment in an otherwise fine automobile. I'll...

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

Should it be possible using the Android Auto app? I have loaded it to my phone, but the wife is gone with the Tahoe, so I am unable to complete the setup, or try anything. This will be really cool if I can do it. The Chevy gps (which they charge dearly for) does not even have parts of US...

Cast phone screen to infotainment screen?

I have a 2016 Tahoe LTZ. Is there any way to cast my android smart phone screen to the Tahoe infotainment screen? I use Google maps as my gps rather than the POS gps Chevy supplies with the vehicle, and it would be nice to see my maps on "the big screen". Also would be nice to watch videos from...
