Ive been trying to shop around for Tahoes but it seems that dealerships are only offering around 10%, regardless of model year.

It seems like the vast majority of dealers are offer approx. 10-12% off. Now is definitely the time to buy with the end of the year and pretty horrible car sales for most of this year.

I am always fair with my dealing, however, I won't accept a dealer not working with me re price.
There are too many dealers and too many cars to choose from and not enough buyers.

They are really dropping the prices on 2018 Grand Cherokees.
The GC's I am looking at are $53,000.00. Most dealers are offering them at $46,000 before I even start negotiating.

You can find 2018 Denalis with larger discounts than the Tahoe. That was always the case since I’ve been looking. I have several saved still, might trade the burb.

Beckmasten north and West Point GMC in Houston have large discounts. James Wood in Decatur had $25k off 2017s last week.

I am finally ending a lease on my 2015 BMW 535 M Sport and am getting back into an SUV for towing and hauling. I have been driving BMW's for nearly 15 years now and have grown tired of them.

I could have written that exact post about a year ago, right down to the part about the lease ending on a 535 M-Sport. Mine was a 2013; beautiful car but easily the least interesting of the 3 consecutive BMWs I'd had since 2001.

I also cross-shopped the JGC against the Tahoe. Frankly I think there are a lot of aspects to the Jeep that are more appealing than the Chevy, or at least there were last year. In the end though, when I sat in a JGC, I felt like it really wasn't as big as it was supposed to be. I also had an aging 2004 Explorer that I was moving out at the time - it happened to be a 3rd row model and seemed notably more accommodating.

We knew we would be carrying around our daughters and their friends for the near lifetime of this vehicle, so a 3rd row wound up being important. That tipped the scale ultimately; there's clearly no 3-row Jeep and my wife hates the masculine Durango styling. So Tahoe it was.

We love it - it's big, quiet, roomy, capable, and does not complain about much. It's good at what it's good at, and in its own way not really any less enjoyable to drive around than the F10 was.

I can't believe you guys find the Tahoe 3rd row seat useful. We find it entirely too cramped for anyone over about 3 feet tall. Ours is a 2016 LTZ, and we are unable to carry more than 4 adults. More than yhat, and we have to take two cars. 3rd row seat is useless for us. I'd remove it if it was removable.

Ive had a ton of GC. 2007 Laredo, 2011 Laredo, 2014 Limited, 2015 Overland, 2018 Summit. Needless to say you can call me a fanboy, enthusiast, whatever.

The Jeep GC is an excellent vehicle in terms of cost/features. You will be hard pressed to find an equal match of what you get in a Summit compared to any other luxury SUV. Jeep has its flaws though. The service department is going to vary greatly depending on dealership and the reliability is hit or miss. Seriously your jeep is either going to be trouble free forever or youll have to keep going back to get little stupid things fixed. When I brought home my brand new 2018 summit the front headlight didnt work. Took them 3 days to figure out the problem and fix it.

I cross shopped the tahoe and the gc extensively. If im being honest, I still am. Might ditch the jeep for the tahoe only because Ive had so damn many of them.

The Jeep is certainly easier to drive and much easier to park. It has a ton of safety features and new tech that the tahoe may or may not have. It really all comes down to size and price. Do you do a ton of highway driving? If so, you might lean towards the tahoe since it is a steady cruiser and a dream for long trips. If you find your day to day to be more city driving, parking garages, and rush hour traffic, then you might consider the GC for its handling and smaller footprint.

I have no kids, no wife, I dont tow anything. I only want the tahoe for its road presence and general badassness. Is that a legitimate reason to buy the vehicle? You bet your ass it is. I dont need to justify a damn thing. But thats me. If thats not a good enough reason for you than the GC with the V8 will be more than enough to satisfy your needs.

This is an excellent response! Totally on point! My mom has a 2011 GC limited. I like it a lot. But it’s been nothing but problems since the day she bought it two years ago. I agree it isn’t the best vehicle on long haul trips. My Denali is far more comfortable on long trips. But my Denali guzzles fuel like mad so a lot of times we take her jeep. That being said, my aunt is on her 4th GC!, a 2000 Laredo, a 2004 overland summit, a 2008 limited with the small block 4.7L, and her current 2014 overland summit with the 5.7L hemi. Her 2014 has been completely trouble free. I’m about to go on another 6 hour road trip up to mammoth ski area tomorrow with her. Her 2014 is pretty comfortable, all the bells and whistles I can think of and then some! I’ve always been a fan of the hemi. It’s a fun motor. So I think the GC over all is a great rig. But so are Tahoe’s.

My wife and I feel the same way. She says the third row seat is a joke and only for kids under 5 years old. She is 5'6" and her knees were in her throat. We looked at the new Expedition last week and the third row seat is big enough for adults and older kids. After spending time with both she likes the Expedition better. Come next spring we will look at them both again and come to a decision about which one to get. BTW, we will be trading our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, which has been great (only service has been oil changes), but it too small for us.

Several dealerships are GM offering employee pricing on the 17s which is about 11% off of MSRP. The ploy is that they show you the invoice which shows the employee price and that’s that. Don’t know whether there are any other incentives that are applicable.

I tend to agree with this "Employee Pricing." As I have been dealing on Tahoes the last month, I cringe every time a sales manager advises
they are offering this special deal.

This has just allowed the dealers to hang their hat on this program and claim they can't go any lower on price. This "Employee Pricing" has actually
increased the price of 2017's and eliminated incentives.

And most importantly, are we so naive to think General Motors is actually going to give their thousands of over-worked and under-paid employees some
special pricing deal?

2 hour trips? No way. Not for any height human.

Running kids to sports around town? Hell yeah.

Occasionally throwing a couple/few moms back there for a 20 minute ride to the bar/restaurant? Hell yeah. Put a couple of nips or screw top white wine minis in your cup holder and all is good.

I can fit 5 adults in my yukon before we have to break out the 3rd row.

Buckets are a no no.
