    Whine under the hood?

I would guess power steering pump; that's the first thing that comes to my mind. See if you can hear it if you turn the wheels left and right while idling.

    Better MPG for Tahoe 99

I think I would have to disagree on it not paying off. At $9 a gallon; if moving into the project slowly, then Id say in the long run it would be easier and payoff. I would start with the common things; check tire pressure, removing any unnecessary items out of the truck, and most importantly...

HOW TO: Program new key fobs

HOW TO: Program new key fobs - No PIN on #8 Here are the steps necessary to program new (or used) key fob(s) to work with your vehicle. You will need to locate the ODB I or ODB II (year dependent) connector under the driver side dash. For I, you will need to connect a port to a ground...

HOW TO: Fix strange wiper behavior (PICS)

The refurb ones here are $50, and new is $70; yikes! This way people are only in $10 and will come out with a soldering gun and solder for any other projects. I was going to do this long ago as others have already discovered the issue. I was just so worried about getting everything in back...

Buddy (A/C tech) who had the gauges and vacuum is the one who helped me charge said gauges and temp looked good. He explained it to me but I honestly didnt understand much. Just explained all looked very good. Ive noticed that the compressor seems to be making much more noise. Impending doom...

How to adjust drum brakes (no access to adjuster)

I have battery powered Dremel; very powerful, but hoping the battery can last. I still cannot find this oval hole. It is completely flat on the back side. I worry this is going to give me an issue in locating where to cut on the inside. Do you happen to have any pics to reference. Also...

~ Kon Pulling to the right ~

You know, I dont actually remember checking the driver side. Why do you say left? Is the issue opposite of the pull? As for pot holes, well, all I can say is Florida roads are horrible. But nothing more than usual, and the truck has done this Ive owned it. Do we believe this is a result...

    Thorough carpet cleaning?

Isnt Simple Green just a degreaser? Wound it be any different than Purple Power? I mean my floor was really bad. Only thing I dont like is the blotting part. Basically its because I really didnt have the best thing to absorb. Let me tell you, this stuff has no issue bringing the stuff out of...

HOW TO: Fix strange wiper behavior (PICS)

This writeup is written using a 99 Yukon; this may differ from your year/model. I had put this off for so long, not only due to price of the motor but fear of going through the hell of getting the bars and alignment back in proper order. I wanted to share this due to this not being the case. A...

    Thorough carpet cleaning?

Just got done with cleaner/shiner and wipe down; truck looks amazing! I just done a quick carpet cleaning on the tranny tunnel and I'm very impressed so far. Only Con's so far; it doesn't go very far, rightly so as I had a lot of spot cleaning. And the smell, it may be strong for some. Bares to...

    Thorough carpet cleaning?

Taking out the seats does seem like a bit over doing it, but if you had smelled that interior; especially as strong as it was, four days later. Granted this is when I had assumed the dog was all over the floor; which as we know now was not the case. At four days later and as bad as it was, I...

Looking for Rotors - Need assistance!

RA, I have a 1999 Yukon SLT 2WD and dont know which rotor will work. I see 4WD and others that say nothing. Am I to assume these are for the 2WD? I also see different sizes; no clue here. I would like to have the cheapest workable rotor. Please let me know what to order and TYF will have...

    Thorough carpet cleaning?

Thanks for the tips, however, its been a little more involved; and less. I decided to not take out the seats, but I did get some BlueMagic carpet stain remover. It has good reviews, though have yet to use it because of the more involved part (and rain). I had discovered that the dog really...

    Thorough carpet cleaning?

The Kon smells a lot like a wet dog (due to dog) and the carpet is plain well dirty. Im going to get a shop-vac to use for pulling up the water which I plan to soak into the carpet. Ill only do this if I can remove the seats; I could use advise on this. Im wondering what soap would clean very...

    ~ A/C questions ~

How is this performance test done? Would it tell me what I can do to resolve? I was recently told that these type compressors do make a certain amount of noise; light noise is common. Noticed that it wasnt blowing cool the other day, but now blows fine. Seems like I may be in the same...

    A/C low-side valve replacement

Very old thread but Ill still help ya out. There is a section at Vatozone that has misc parts for window cranks to door handles, here you should find a package of AC valves. The package was $5 at my local store and had valves for high and low side for various applications.

~ Kon Pulling to the right ~

I did this too, forgot to mention it. Like I said, brake pads apply and release without issue. I do have a correction to the above. It does pull to the left too, not so much though. Just here and there for a second or two. Also, when I brake with low to mid pressure, it does indeed pull...
