Here's a good one for you. I'm in the home stretch on installing a reman (AFM Deleted) 5.3 in my '15 PPV. My son the gym rat bent the RH fuel rail removing it from the old engine, so we replaced it. We also replaced all 8 injectors with new OEM. Removing the fuel rails/ injectors from a 200K mile engine is one of the hardest jobs I've done, its really difficult.

The two injector harnesses are velcro strapped to the fuel rails. Remove them before doing any prying there, don't be stupid like I was. The post mortem suggests that the "Soy Based" (Rats love it) wiring insulation breaks down/ degrades in the engine valley environment. We must have pinched the harness under the pry bar when removing it, and the insulation turned to dust. Once the engine was running, we got random misfire codes, knock sensor codes, and the P216E Injector #6 voltage code.

I ohmed each injector and chased each circuit from the ECM connector to the harness and they basically checked out ok. The test procedure doesn't have you check between the circuits of the nearby injectors as it should, but if it did, you would find the problem. I removed the harness to inspect it and found the following:

today I pulled the drivers’ side harness (ordered them both anyway, they’ll be here tomorrow. Nowhere near as bad as the p/s one, but the insulation is beginning to crumble. This is something to look at for anyone experiencing a random P0300 code for sure

Yes I did this job a year or so ago on my 2015. Replaced the driver side fuel rail and 4 injectors. Getting that rail out was a PITA I had to use a 3ft pry bar and that’s what destroyed the fuel rail. I know they make a special tool for pulling the rail though FYI.

I bought the J hook tools, didn't have much luck. The trick ended up being using two pry bars to apply the force at just the right angle to get it out. It was a ***** of a job I don't want to do anytime again soon.
