First year ownership and 5K miles 2011 Yukon Denali

I remember back in the 80's, 100k miles was a milestone that was talked about a lot. Now, I think vehicles over 200k miles are becoming more common every day. Not necessarily because the vehicles are so great but that getting a newer vehicle is out of reach for more and more people. I would love...

    Buyer Beware - Don't Buy a Yukon

I really like the pre-2007 trucks and SUV's. Overall, I think the engines are bulletproof, I had 3 of them over 280k miles. When I was looking for a Yukon, most of those older ones, up here in WI were a rust bucket and didnt have the money to buy a southern car. That said, my 2008 Yukon XL has...

    '04 6.0L Escalade AC Compressor

Agree with the faulty switch or refrigerant level. You can only check pressure with a gauge, not qty. With the unit full, should be 100psi or greater depending on ambient temperature. However, the amount of refrigerant is per the vehicle and options. Most of these are between 28-32oz or so, more...

    Buyer Beware - Don't Buy a Yukon

These kinds of posts are interesting. Guy spends $100k on a truck and it's junk. I have a hard time relating to this because, in all my years of driving, I dont think I came even close to spending that kind of money on ALL my vehicles, combined. Nothing against people who have them, I'm sure I...

    Banks Tuner on a 5.3

Understood. Safe is OK. That is the reason I bought the Banks, I can trust it. I also really just want a plug and play and realize it wont be at the level of a custom tune. I really like the rig, but it's a $10k truck with 200k miles. Thought it was worth $400 bucks and 10 min to see if I could...

    Banks Tuner on a 5.3

Got a 2008 Yukon XL. I bought a Banks Auto Mind tuner and have it deleting my AFM and the economy tune in for the winter months. It seems to be working quite well. I notice my shift points are lower and for all around driving, I like it so far. Mileage gain has been minimal at best. I mainly...

how to protect your rig from salt damage??

Everything up here in Wisconsin is automatically rusty. My buddies 2011 silverado frame rusted to the point of replacement at 130k miles. I am a big believer in POR-15. I chip off loose rust or loose factory coating where I can and put that on the outside. Pretty tough stuff, holds up well. I...

2007, 205K miles. Stabilitrak light. OK to drive today to get codes read?

I had this same issue with mine a few weeks ago (2008). In my case the stabilitrack and abs light was on, CEL was flashing and the engine ran like crap. This came out of absolute nowhere. Some on here mentioned voltage and ground issues. Everything looked ok. However, it looked like my voltage...

2007 Yukon, Engine shaking, service stabilitrak + traction control, flashing engine light.

After a bit of research, the voltage thing makes sense. I'm going to replace my alternator tonight. It's been making some noise anyway so a little preventative maintenance wont hurt. Will update in a few days.

2007 Yukon, Engine shaking, service stabilitrak + traction control, flashing engine light.

Ok, how about this, high voltage? I noticed during this episode, my voltage reading was way higher than normal. Like, way past the 14v on my gauge. Usually it hangs around 14v but it seemed a lot higher at that time.

2007 Yukon, Engine shaking, service stabilitrak + traction control, flashing engine light.

Any resolution on this one. Had the same issue on my 2008 last weekend. Stopped and shut off the truck, restarted and it cleared. Did that twice and got a misfire on cyl 2 but I figured that was due to some other issue otherwise the thing runs perfect. I know I have had other GM products in the...

    Is it worth $29500

My opinion is time is a bigger issue than mileage. My experience is newer high mileage vehicles will be more reliable than older low mileage. I would love to find a 2 year old with 100k miles, I would buy that hands down over a 10 year old truck with 25k.

    Upgrading Vehicle - 2013 Yukon XL 2500 6.0 vs. 2019 Yukon XL 6.2?

IMO... The one thing you would get with the 2013 option is familiarity. You basically own the same vehicle and therefore will go into the new one knowing a lot about it. Sometimes that's worth more than money.

GMT800 vs GMT900. Which to buy?

I agree with this. Just nicer overall, more modern. Definitely want the 6 spd tranny. I have the 4spd (2008) which is ok but I suspect the 6spd will get better mileage and tow much better. However you cant go wrong with a nice 800, just not much to worry about with them, very reliable.

    Trans Shift Bracket

I wish that would have worked but it simply was too close to pull the pan free no matter how I did it. I even bent the bracket out as far as it went and the pan still wouldnt clear. The cutoff wheel trick might work but it's tight quarters up there.

    Trans Shift Bracket

I used a Hayden #678 universal cooler. I mounted it in the center of my radiator and attached it to the radiator support. I used hoses and tapped into the outlet of the main radiator using a fitting that goes into the outlet of the radiator. Once I had the front bumper/grill off, it took less...

    Should I Buy?

One other thing, it might not hurt to wait a bit to buy, especially if you plan to buy from a dealer. Wholesale prices are coming down. I think there will be deals to be had once they start unloading the new cars with rebates. We might see a good influx of some nice used rigs.

    Should I Buy?

I have a 2008 Yukon XL with the 5.3. First thing I did was deactivate the AFM. So far so good. I agree, don't buy the first one and do a lot of research on this forum. There is a lot to like and some not so much. Your buying a used truck, dont expect to get off Scott free, you will need to do...

    Trans Shift Bracket

Last weekend, I decided to finally do a full trans service. 2008 5.3/4l60E. When I went to drop the pan, I have moved the shift bracket out of the way. Being this is a WI truck and this probably was not done for a long time, the bolts holding the bracket were rusted solid. There was no bending...

Head gasket(s) + rear main seal jobs

As far as the rear main, I've had a number of these and a pool of oil is usually not that. Sometimes oil leaks are hard to find. The truck I have now, the oil leak was a $5 gasket on the oil cooler block off cover. Sometimes it's a valve cover gasket that drips down the back of the engine. I've...
