    My 5 Alarm Hoe

L4/L5/S1 here for me... been 22+ years since I screwed mine up. Was dealing cards up here at Turning Stone, reached and twisted the wrong way and "POP". Was hunched over, unable to stand upright. Left the table on November 13th, 1995 and never returned. Two years later, went back to school for...

    My 5 Alarm Hoe

And a Merry Christmas to you, my brother. Hope your days are filled with nothing but good cheer! Already dropped 20 lbs since last Monday morning. I walked down the stairs this morning, and my wife said she can already notice. I'll probably lose another 10 between today and tomorrow, I'm sure...

    Gauges going haywire

Yes, I did. As of now, am using 1/0 cables I made by crimping lugs in my vise. Just received some Orion battery terminals that use a set-screw, want to clean up the engine bay a bit with the dual batteries and run a dual 1/0 run to the back for my amp. I'm hoping they will make a difference. My...

    Hood idea

Did it on my old '96 Tahoe, looked good, actually. I went up onto the hood about 5", and taped off a straight line from side to side, then masked off the rest. Used a sander with some 200 grit to give the paint some "tooth", then used a single can of spray-on bedliner.

    Gauges going haywire

My gauges are randomly going all the way to zero, all of my idiot lights are coming on, then the gauges will start reading again. Sometimes it lasts a second or two, but it has occurred for up to 2 minutes. Truck runs just fine when they are down, but it's not something I want to keep happening...

    My 5 Alarm Hoe

47 back at the end of June, and my body told me I was 77.... I couldn't bend over and pick anything up off the floor, couldn't walk more than 10 minutes without pain, etc. That's what happens when you're pushing 340 lbs, even on a 6'7 frame. 2nd day home recovering from gastric bypass surgery...

    FYI - High Output Alternator

The one I have is a 1000 CA, 850CCA, group 34/78 dual terminal. Just received my terminal crimper (up to 4/0), going to swap the battery out tomorrow for a new one, and go with dual batteries.

    FYI - High Output Alternator

    Can't exchange it.till.tomorrow afternoon.

    Have to agree.

    FYI - High Output Alternator

Ran it yesterday, sat from noon until 8pm tonight. Only draw visible is the blue LEDs under the rear seats, very minimal draw, and the phone charger (status LEDs). Wouldn't start, had to jump it, voltGe was at 9.2V.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Like, except for that white shit on the ground. I'm in Central NY, and we just have a dusting... and I'd just as soon have it go away. Damn hard to work outside every day in sub-freezing temps, I can't wear gloves because I have to handle small screws and crap - that's why I had frostbite back...

    FYI - High Output Alternator

It's barely been cranking over in the morning, at about 9-10v, temps have been in the 30's. Once running, the battery will charge enough to crank over almost immediately any time throughout the day, and stay at 12v+. BUT, I noticed over the past few days that running my stereo (only one amp, a...

    Good Deal Spotters' Thread

Great deal.... except the cheapest option for shipping an All-On module was 3-day USPS for $10.15.
  14. BigDaddy13440

    FYI - High Output Alternator

It's not a cheaply-made, hopped up alternator meant for car audio. It's a direct fit for a Sierra 3500 series, it's an option available from the factory. Even if it shits the bed in a year, I'm have it under warranty for that long
  15. BigDaddy13440

    FYI - High Output Alternator

I had it tested, sat at 12V with the key off. 14.2V with the key on, and dropped to 13.4 with all my accessories on (including the stereo, with a Lightning Audio 1001.d mono amp). The new battery is from Autoparet International, one of Advanced Auto's suppliers. When the 253 amp alternator...

    FYI - High Output Alternator

Having a charging problem with my XL lately, I think the alternator is working intermittently. It'll charge the battery while driving, but if the truck sits for more than 2 hours, my voltage is down to under 10, and I have to use a jump-pack to get it going. So, did a little research on...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Just picked my XL up from Goodyear, my front brakes were toast.... as in metal to metal. Mechanic hit the old rotors with a hammer and they shattered. Luckily, as I'd mentioned elsewhere, I found a set of EBC rotors and Greenstuff pads on Craigslist locally. He said he'd bought them from Jegs...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I'll have to take exception to that! I AM a General Contractor, and subcontract for Lowe's doing installs for three stores. Mostly do door installations, but also countertops, tile, bathroom fixtures, and full kitchen renovations. My XL IS my work truck.

07+ Brake upgrade on a 00-06 NBS, is it worth it?

The time has come, front brakes are almost down to the rivets. Looking at this Powerstop kit from RockAuto, everything is included for $338 after core charges: http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6540420&cc=1441037&jsn=693 Another option, without going to the NNBS brakes, would be to...

    My 5 Alarm Hoe

I know all about it, at 47 yrs old, the 1000 watt Lightning Audio amp powering the 2 Powerbass 10's just isn't cutting it anymore - looking at some Massive Audio TOROX 10's, and maybe a Car Audio Bargains CAB1600 to push them.

Got a great deal on tires, thought I'd share.

I'd have to compare them very favorably to General Grabber AT2's, one of the quietest all-terrains I've ever driven on. Practically zero road noise.

    Suspension lift or body lift

Look at the Formula 1 race cars - cars are about 14 feet long, and the track width is almost 8 feet wide, with a center of gravity of about 16-18" off the track. I think I read once that they are capable of about 6.5 G's laterally.
